Someone is setting off fireworks and it's making my dogs crazy. Days like these, I almost think it'd be worth the extra rent to move somewhere civilized.

I don't expect to sleep much tonight.

The fireworks would disguise the gunshots.
Just saying.

My poor female dog freaks over fireworks too. She hides in the bathroom. Last night there was also a thunderstorm, which also scare her. So early fireworks and then a thunderstorm, she was NOT in a good mood. Poor thing.

How do you know they're not ravers?

It's more likely they're revivalists. That's who was making noise earlier this evening.

i thought you were canadian.

I am canadian. I live in what has been called Canada's Worst Neighborhood. This assessment was supported by bullshit statistics.

Gunshots are not uncommon. That's what I thought at first (move away from the windows) but with the long weekend coming up, it's more likely the local crackheads are throwing a party.

It's always worth more to live somewhere more civilized. Always.

Normally, these two are okay with loud noises, but every once in a while the older one will go into a fit over every little noise, I think because in summer I have the windows open, and she can hear more. I don't mind having them attentive to what goes on outside, but when she hyperventilates all night long, I lose patience.

If Charles Bronson (the vigilante) were still around, he'd take care of those hooligans....;)

I like fireworks. I like sparklers too. Sorry about your dog.

I would, but I'm so tired of arguing with this American spellchecker.

You can teach it. Just add the words that it says are misspelled and you know aren't instead of changing or ignoring.

You don't hate them. I know you don't.

nobody hates fireworks. nobody who should be allowed to live anyway.

How can you hate them when it's how your people make money?
Heh.

Oh I do hate them.

My neighbors launch so many fucking bottle rockets they hit my roof like rain. Goddamned whompers! That's what I yelled out the window at them one year anyway.

They come close to driving me insane with rage.

There's another asshole, the same one that overdecorates at Christmas and in the summer drives around on souped up lawnmowers, who puts giant firecrackers of some sort in aluminum garbage cans so it sounds even louder.

Littleninja: my kitties hate these things too. They keep trying to escape, and cannot.

they don't have to be giant to make a lot of noise in a trash can. when i was younger me and some friends use to walk down the streets throwing m-60's(or whatever the lame, weakass m-80's are called. thunderbombs are fun. i've since moved on) down into storm drains. that was a very satisfying, echoing noise.

I would not find that a satisfying, echoing noise. Maybe the sound of the rock I slung at you with a slingshot...that would be satisfying after said firecracker launching.
