I honor the place in you,
In which the entire universe dwells.
I honor the place in you,
Which is of love, of truth, of light and of peace.
When you are in that place in you,
And I am in that place in me,
WE ARE ONE

Body Facts

More than half the bones in your body are located in your hands and feet.

There is enough iron in the human body to make one small nail.

Women blink almost twice as much as men.

A sneeze can exceed the speed of 100 mph.

An average human drinks about 16,000 gallons of water in a lifetime.

Beards are the fastest growing hair. If the average man never trimmed his beard, it could grow to 30 feet over the course of his lifetime.

Every person has a unique tongue print.

Fingernails grow faster than toenails and your middle fingernail is the quickest one to grow. It takes about 150 days to grow out a full length fingernail.

Your brain continues to send out electrical wave signals approximately 37 hours after death.

The nervous system transmits messages to the brain at speeds of 180 miles per hour.

The human nose can remember 50,000 different smells.

The human eye can detect more than 10,000,000 different colors!

Your jawbone is the hardest bone in your body.

When you were born, you had 350 bones in your body, and after childhood 144 of these bones fused together.

Your brain stops growing when you are about 15 years old.

Laughing and coughing put more pressure on the spine than walking or standing.

Your stomach produces a new lining every 3 days in order to avoid digesting itself in its own production of acid.

About every seven years, your body replaces the equivalent of an entirely new skeleton.

The spinal cord is less then two feet in length and is the same diameter as your index finger, yet it contains over 10 billion nerve cells.

Blood type A can receive blood types A & O safely. Blood type B can receive types B & O. Blood type O can receive only O blood but are "universal donors" because O is acceptable to all other blood types. Blood type O is the most common blood type worldwide.

The eye muscle is the fastest reacting muscle of the whole body. It contracts in less than 1/100th of a second.

It takes approximately 200,000 frowns to create one permanent brow line.

Your eyesight is the sharpest in the middle of the day.

Every 24 hours, the body grows another
40 yards of hair.

Medical Massage

The Laws of Medical Massage Therapy

Everything is connected.
Shortened muscle tissues can do no work.
Bones go where muscles place them.
Bones stay where muscles keep them.
The soft tissues of the body respond positively to touch.

When we are unable to find tranquility within ourselves, it is useless to seek it elsewhere.
Francois de La Rochefoucauld

Look to your health, and if you
have it, praise God and value it
next to conscience; for health is
the second blessing that we
mortals are capable of,
a blessing money can't buy.
Izaak Walton

It's not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.

~ Hans Selye ~

Massage is one of the easiest ways of attaining and maintaining good health and well being. It’s a healing instinct, innate in all of us, to rub an aching knee, or stroke a furrowed brow. Headaches, aches and pains, insomnia, tension and stress can all be alleviated with one simple instrument -- our hands.

Massage has amazing effects on the health of the person being massaged. It improves circulation, relaxes muscles, aids digestion, and by stimulating the lymph system, speeds up the elimination of waste products. These direct benefits, combined with the psychological benefits of feeling cared for quickly produce a wonderful feeling of well-being that cannot be matched by modern drugs.

The Massage
by Steve Robertson

Knotted
Muscles
Slowly relaxed
As I
Kneaded
The warm skin
Of your back

Your sigh
Told me
I had
Reached the spot
My caress
Massaged the knot
Until my touch
Felt you
Let go

With eyes
Of their own
My hands
Sought
Their way
Over the sensation
Of your supple body

And I smiled
With my rhythm
Of touching
You
Where you lay
Now
Sleeping

Abdominal Massage

This technique is a slow, deep, penetrating massage which releases deep muscle tissue spasms in the entire abdominal area and facilitates the normal flow of blood, lymph, nerves and chi throughout the entire body. Emotional and physical releases are possible.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release Techniques reach deep into the body and allow it to unwind itself by gently stretching the fascia, revealing restrictions in soft tissues that would never have been addressed when using other massage techniques. By responding to subtle changes that occur in the tissue tension during Myofascial stretching, the therapist is able to work with the patient, not on the patient.

Thanks for tllling me about those techniques :rose: I'll be sure to ask my therapist about the myofascial.

What I do!

I help massage away your blues, help take away the nagging headache, relieve you from that pain from the migraine that has plagued you for years, the tension that you get from work or from just everyday life, and the stress that is put upon you from work or friends or family is wisk away to another place.

Sciatica, that pain in the low back that runs down through the hip down your leg and out your toes is relieved as well as that upper back pain you get when you're hunch over your work station, or the carpal tunnel syndrome that you have had for years, you know that pain, the numbness that is in your hand and fingers, that feeling that there are pins and needles sticking all over your hands and arms.

How about the neck pain you have after that other car rearended you at the stop light. Whiplash can be very tricky, it can give you headaches, pain in the neck shoulders and arms when you try to move then.

How about that ankle sprain that you got when you foot didn't step right on the ground, or when when you twisted it while playing sports.

There are lots of things that can go wrong to make your pain, I am just the person to help relieve you from that pain no matter how it happened. Even if it's not pain from an accident, maybe you just need that touch that has eluded you for far too long, or maybe you need to just quiet your mind so sleep can come to over take you and get that well needed rest.

Maybe it's time to get a massage. If you can't come to me, go somewhere else. Get that well needed relief that your body, mind and soul so deserves.

I have a question for you ~

Many years ago I used to get deep tissue massage in preparation for chiropractic adjustment and accupuncture. Anyway, a day or two later, bruises would appear (especially on my neck) in the spots that were rubbed that looked unnervingly like hickeys. It would only happen on my left side ~ never my right.

Is that a normal thing to have happen?

Also, the worst cold I've ever gotten was just after my first deep tissue massage. I assume that's from all the toxins being released from my system?

Could be that the skin was sensitive, or the pressure what was used was too much, or could be the start of a vitamin B deficiency. As far as the massage itself goes, I have never left any kind of bruising. I like working on a discomfort scale of 1-10, 1 being like a fly just landing on you to a 10 being painful enough to cry out and stiffen, I would like to work around a 6-7. That is the feel good hurt. Anything above that, the muscles start to tense up for the body's protection.

During the massage, lactic acid from the muscles get push up and out into the blood stream and a person sould feel like have a cold or the flu coming on. I had one person come out and start drinking a soda pop instead of water. Couple hours later, they were actually throwing up. Always drink water after a massage to help flush out the toxins. You may need to pee a lot for a couple days, but that better than feeling sick. :)

It's so funny you mentioned the vitamin B thing ~ I was recently diagnosed with a deficiency that had long gone unnoticed by previous doctors. Wow.

More specifically, B-12. You can get shots for that. Best thing is to talk with your doctor. :)
