I dunno. my bro is all hot to sue someone, but the people at the nursing home say that it happens more than you'd think.
I'm sure they are correct, it happens way too frequently for the health care system to charge the fees they do.

The thing is, the nursing home and the discharge hospital will blame each other if it becames a legal issue.

my bro's calmed down a bit now, but he still says he's going to give the heart surgeon (he was officially the one who released my mom) a "piece of his mind".

then again, the other day he said he was looking in the phone book for a lawyer, so I dunno. I don't really think it's something they would consider negligence unless my mom died, so I'd rather just let it go and just hope she keeps getting better.

Well, maybe as she continues to improve he'll reconsider.

Hey, have you seen The Prestige? It was a weird movie, watched it tonight. But kind good too. (going back to your earlier post of netflix searches :) )

no, haven't seen it. I recognized the title, but couldn't think of what it was so I had to look it up. admit it, you just watched it because it had hugh jackman and christian bale, right?

it sounded kind of interesting, tho, so I put it on my list. thanks for the tip.

oh yeah.... since you watch the shield, I'm wondering if you watch any of the other shows on the fx network like nip/tuck or rescue me. they're both really good and kinda twisted, like the shield. the new season of rescue me starts tonight at 10.

My daughter wanted to see The Prestige for pretty much those reasons, and I like a lot of Hugh Jackman's stuff, so we went when it was in the theaters. I admit to being disappointed.

For a small network, they have some pretty good original shows.

hmmm... thanks for the input. I may leave it on the list and at least give it a chance... I do get tired sometimes of watching the same movies over and over.

I have what I consider to be kind of strange tastes. I'm not an intellectual by any means, but on my non-down-in-the-dumps days I think I am smarter than the average bear. well, at least the average non-college educated bear. when it comes to movies, tho, I rarely want to have to think too much about what I'm watching. I tend to really enjoy movies that a lot of people would consider stupid, like will ferrell's movies. the ones where he acts like a goofball. the one he made with emma thompon kind of intrigues me, but I also wonder if it might require too much thinking.

on the other hand, there are movies that even I consider too dumb to watch... like those stupid fucking home alone movies. my mom can watch the parts where daniel stern and joe pesci are getting hit in the head and the nuts over and over and laugh her ass off every time, but after 2 or 3 times for me it just got annoying.

dodgeball is a good "guys getting hits in the nuts" flick... I've seen it several times. movies like that at least have some very clever or ironic lines. anchorman I dunno if I really like as an entire movie, but there are a few scenes that I thought were hilarious and there are several quotable lines.

what's a poor ol' stupidly smart boy to do?

here's something that crosses my mind often. there are ladies that occasionally stop in here to say hi. I get a couple of hellos and then they disappear. sometimes they offer other little tidbits of info, like sortacurious's movie recommendation, but by and large it seems like I am mostly an afterthought.... to quote a song by the eagles, I feel like the last resort.

is it my fault, because I don't always try to seek them out in other threads and be super flirty with them like every other guy? am I wrong for not acting "up" all the time whether I am or not? people always say to be yourself, and that's what I try to be.... sometimes I'm flirty and fun, and sometimes I have problems. this is the real me.

it kind of reminds me of a scene from man of the house, another of my favorite stupid movies. tommy lee jones is a texas ranger guarding 5 cheerleaders and they're helping him get ready for a date. some of the words may be a little off, but basically one of them tells him to, "be yourself, but not the you who you really are. be the you that you'd be if you were somebody else. somebody better."

maybe that's what I should do, or just think about leaving for awhile, because even the girls that want to be known as more than a pretty face seem to gravitate more to the guys that are good with the flirting thing. all I know for sure is that it seems very easy for me, being "the real me", to get lost in the shuffle.

I don't know what to tell you, mrtnmoon. I feel the same way ... other than my one thread, if I go outside and post I often get completely ignored. I can post a political opinion on the GB, but it isn't the same.

You'd have to consult with someone who WAS popular to give you anything helpful, I'm afraid.

thanks, but I'm beyond help, I think. I have pretty much two choices.... keep on being me, taking what attention I can get and every once in awhile pondering that lack of attention...

or go away.

I guess the third choice would be to just stop pondering that lack of attention... but then I wouldn't be being myself. that would be me being myself if I was somebody else.... somebody better.... to paraphrase that line from man of the house.

Keep on being you...going away doesn't solve anything, in my humble and not-so asked for opinion.

i hope you're having a good day.

well... anyone is allowed to say anything they want here... I mean, I'll read anything posted unless it's from the 2 people I have on ignore.

and no, I'm not having a particularly good day, which is probably the reason I'm pondering the attention I receive here (or lack thereof).

thanks for your input, and I hope your day is better than mine.

The movie is different for certain. I really didn't even have time to see who was in it. There was a screw up at the blockbuster counter and I had to rush back and find a replacement movie while the line behind me waited. Two guys were talking about this movie as I passed by so I asked them if they recommended it and they did. It was a total unknown to me, but yeah they were a bonus! LOL

As for your question, you have not been an afterthought to me. I don't think we are online often at the same time. But I have your thread subscribed. Keep being you is my best advice, although I can't speak for the popular crowd. :rose:

Ha! No pressure, well not too much. ;)

that doesn't exactly sound like a recommendation.

I actually had a couple last night, but they were so jumbled I can't even begin to describe them.

It kinda was an anti-recommondation. Such a great cast, and plot potential, but it missed it's mark as far as I was concerned.

Tonight is Casino Royale, I think. Then I out of flicks. Anything you recommend?

yeah, that's what I thought. I guess my sarcasm didn't come through.

I don't really know what to recommend to you.... most of what I've been watching is movies I've already seen before, just because they're on cable and nothing else is on. I've watched the dawn of the dead remake a few times, and invincible with mark wahlberg as a guy who earns a spot with the philadelphia eagles as a walk-on.

did you ever watch fear, with wahlberg and reese witherspoon?

some other movies I've watched lately... keep in mind I'm not saying they're great (at least in some cases) but I got some chuckles out of them.

man of the house - the one with tommy lee jones, not the one with chevy chase (hot chicks! yay!)
revenge of the nerds (hilarious)
major league II
john tucker must die - semi funny moments and more cute girls
american pie II - funny, plus hot chicks with nudity!!!

re: movie recommendations....

I can't believe I forgot this one.... grandma's boy! it is fucking hilarious!! it's about a stoner dude that gets kicked out of his apartment and has to move in with his grandma and her 2 roommates. you'll recognize a lot of the faces in it, and the old ladies are a hoot.

Ah, you like the silly movies.
I loved the American Pie movies I & II. Something About Mary also completely cracks me up!
I will have to check out Man of the House, I love Tommy Lee Jones, he's great. I don't think I've seen Fear yet either, but both good actors so I'll add it to my que. Thanks sweetie!
