Yep! My baby brother is getting married in two weeks time to a wonderful gal. We are all thrilled as are they.

As for me, I am struggling with the issue of whether or not to bring a date.

I could bring someone, a friend to spend the afternoon with or I could go solo and mull over all the sentiment of the day, alone.

I am not sure. ON the other hand, perchance I might meet someone there who wants to go grab a bite to eat after the festivities are over?

I don't know.

Should I bring a date or not? What woud you or have you done?

Psst...I am stewing as this is my first wedding since my divorce. I know that my own failed marraige is an issue.

*sigh* Thoughts? Rants? YOu can tell me to shut the fuck up and get over it, if you wish.

*smirks*

Anyone going to be in New York in two weeks? ;)

Never been in your shoes before (divorce) but I think you should bring a date.

Because if you bring a date you will have some one there with you for support incase the wedding makes you alittle emotional.

Hmmmmm

I am not sure about bringing a date for the sake of a date.

IT could be fun. Or not. And yes, I am a bit concerned about how I might handle things...not that I am an emotional wreck, but ya never know!

;)

I'd say dont bring a "fake-date" - it might jeopardise the chances of meeting somebody very special who is deterred from making a move because they think you are already ' taken'.

One of my friends will be getting married in July. I will be going to the wedding with the maid of honor , she will be my " date". :)

I was going to fly in a date and he said yes and was excited about coming to see me... I mentioned this to the maid of honor ... who is one of my child hood friends. She gave me this look and asked " I thought I was your date ! ".

So needless to say I told my date there was no need to fly in and I would be visiting him some time later during the summer.

But , I think you should do what feels most comfortable for you. If you would like to take a date that would be fun because you will have some one to dance with ... but then there is that chance that you might end up meeting some hottie @ the wedding. :)

End results.... go and simply have fun !

Take lots of pictures !!! :)

I only saw the pun after I had posted, Miss - so I won't claim any credit for anything.....

......except maybe if you do attend without a date and report back to us afterwards that you discovered true love !

Go single. Enjoy a special day with your brother and family. Save the awkward date for your high school reunion.

Geesh!

Next year will be my High School Reunion!

Argh!

However, I don't look much different than I did graduating HS.

A revelation that hit me yesterday when I was cleaning out the photo albums.

:)

I AM in NY. I could go as your date. You will most likely be the only woman there with a female date. This will draw much attention to you, especially the attention of the men there. As we know, all men find lesbians soooooooo interesting to talk to. Even though they learn you are hetro, they will still be finding themselves sexually attracted to you. It may be because they can't get the fantasy of us granting the ultimate invitation of joining us for desert after the wedding, but my guess is it would be because you are a beautiful person. If nothing sparks your interest at the wedding, you still have a gf to go bar hopping with.

Btw, just so you know, if fulfilling one of their fantasies is what sparks your interest, I'm sooooo there for you hehehehe anything for a new friend.

That was me LOL

Instead of taking a date, why don't you see if a girl friend would like to go with you? Someone who knows the family, and would be fun to hang out with, understanding if you get emotional, but not someone who would deter anyone else from asking you to dance, or out to dinner, or whatever.
