I don't meet many people who even know them apart from Yoshimi.

Hi.

I like you more now. :)

Thanks. funny how music either makes you cool or lame. You're cool in my book.

loved them ever since Transmissions from the Satellite Heart. She don't use Jelly is one of the ring tones on my phone... dorky I know.

OH CHRIST!

If there is a band that I hate more than Death Cab, I couldn't tell you.

*gets out megaphone*

GIVE UP YOUR STEREO AND MUSIC CARD NOW!

thanks

Yeesh, bg, don't you know anything? Death Cab had an album in the top 10 billboard charts. You're not allowed to say you like them or the snob police might come to your house.

Nope, never heard of em.

Why do you ask?

they're relatively obscure, were underground for a good while...

seem to have just faded away.

i wondered if anyone has any of their stuff.

they're rather good though.

worth a listen.

I'll drag out Beethoven's 9th and remind you he wrote it when he was stone deaf and then the coup de gras, called it "An Ode To Joy"

now that's genius

good lord, you're right!

er...i hate death cab.

instead, have you ever heard of Brick Wall Eats Suitcases? they're underground right now, but they're pure genius - just wait till they make it!

...

then we may slander them all we like.

Pfft, please. Brick Wall Eats Suitcases have actually played a few gigs. These days, I'm only into bands who are just jamming together and thinking about a name.

sorry. you're right, i forgot about that.

brick wall sold out, didn't they?

they used to be cool, man.

what happened? *shakes head*

anyway, have you heard about...uh, well they haven't chosen a name yet but they're going by Exercise Book at the moment. they're looking for a drummer, but they sound pretty damn good!

Modern day genius depends on genre'

blues -- Muddy Waters, hands down
rock - Beatles -- still no one can match them (and I'm not a fan of theirs either)
jazz - Herbie Hancock .. nuff said
hard rock -- Aerosmith ... 30 years and still going
most recent rocker - Moby
best voice - Sinead O'Connor .. in spite of her insanity
new age - Enya
soul - Marvin Gaye
rockin' Jazz - Santana
punk - Talking Heads
regae - Bob Marley

I don't know where you'd fit Stevie Ray Vaughn but he belongs here somewhere

Ha, as I said it doesn't neccesarily have to deal with them being in the top 10.

I couldn't stand them when they were nothing more than a local band.

So pfttttttttt. :D

That, to put it mildly, is what they all say.

Also, shame on you for mentioning some of the Elephant 6 stuff but not The Apples(in Stereo)

Yeah, I forgot about that. My bad.

That being said, Apples was one of my least favorite of the E6 groups.

You just keep losing points.

IndieSnob said:
Well shit. How can I start earning more points?

Well, you could drop the Boards of Canada nonsense. That'd be a start.

Dang. Where's Weevil when you need him.

Hahaha. Sorry, I like BOC.

So far Weevil and I have completely agreed on most things musically.

Though I'm sure he could probably raz me for some of it.

Maybe. Who knows with him these days though. He's probably listening to Neil Diamond or something while wearing a sweater vest and attempting to fix his riding mower.

BG, E6 is short for Elephant 6. It's a community of bands of sorts that have shared members.

People like Rob Schneider, Jeff Magnum, Kevin Barnes, etc.

It's bands such as Neutral Milk Hotel, Apples In Stereo, Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power, etc.

Alot of it is pop pysch based, mixed with folk and other ingredients.
