Music Snobs....(check in here)

I've become rather more picky about which recordings of classical music I like. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has done some good things, but their recording of Firebird was not one of them. Or rather, it was good up until the end, but they ruined it by making the final, wonderfully exciting bit just choppy.

i'm not a music snob.

but placebo, the devlins, something for kate, jebediah, jimmy eat world, endorphin and machine gun fellatio are all superior to your pansy assed tastes in music.

i will supply no links, for proof defeats the purpose of faith.

I don't know Rene Fleming, but I love the Flaming Lips.

I sense a joke I missed out on...please fill me in....

Never mind. It's too late. It wasn't good, just not horrible.
Ok, maybe horrible but not mind numbingly bad. Well, ok maybe it was but...

You need to post some devlins... my Endorphin copy bit it (I had Embrace) I have all the Placebo, and I'm short some Machine Gun Fellatio, but I'm generally short fellatio so its no surprise.

BTW, you should invest in Bic Runga's new album out on the 29th (I'll have to import the fucker.

Tortoise!

Tortoise is by far one my favorite bands.

Amazing fusion of jazz and rock, some say it's post-rock, some say it isn't. Whatever it is, the shit's just amazing.

Buy TNT and thank me later.

Sorry, but you lost all indie cred by naming jimmy eat world.

(revokes your music snob card)

I second the motion.

Although the Get Up Kids are fun.

Her latest release is actually a big snore. It's acceptable if one doesn't know much opera, but they're all standards and she doesn't bring anything new to them. And her style with Amazing Grace....eh.

It made me appreciate her Handel more (but I am a major Age of Enlightenment fan).
I actually haven't heard that one yet. I need something on my holiday wish list. That and "Daphne".

The Harlem Shakes - you heard it here first.

All I could just find on limewire is disco5000....not bad at all...I'd love to hear more to get a better feel for what their sound encompasses....

I lived half a block away at the time....ah memories...

I hate you.

I hate you so ever fucking much ;-)

I just saw them with Daniel Lanois a month back. Great show as always.

I had a friend offer me a couch for the weekend to go to Pitchforks festival this last summer, but I hate flying.

Tortoise + Les Savy Fav = Boner.

Eh, I never liked Firebird. Always thought Petrushka was much better.

how mean you are.

and to steal someone else's music tastes, i have to say Death Cab for Cutie is one of the best bands i've heard for a very long time.

and i did NOT say this, but i like wilco, too.

You're too funny. And Wilco is great - as is Dan Bern, and Neko Case, and Ryan Adams.

You aussies.

You provide a few great bands like Radio Birdman, Birthday Party/Nick Cave, Dirty Three, and all of a sudden you think your the bees knees.

All kidding aside, sorry but jimmy eats world sounded like hundreds of other bands at the time. I found them rather bland.

Oh, and you are a snob :D

Sacred Songs (her latest) or Handel Arias? Definitely get the Handel if you can and you should already have Daphne (shame!).

I just have a thing for big flashy endings. ;)

Petroushka is quite good as well, though.

no need to hate me, I was living in a studio that was 1k per month thanks to a mobster owning the place and we brought cheap wine...that is why I loved the show..tortise = quite ok in my book but not transcendent or anything....
