I agree, I just think a smoother rope would be a more comfortable experience.

There is also the possibility of cuffs depending on where the rope is going to be. Then again, a cotton cord versus a nylon or rougher material for starters.
Most mistakes happen because folks go straight into the rougher stuff to start with. Thus they get scared away from what would be a more positive experience.
