More to being Gay than Anal Sex !!!

Okay. I'm in the Student Lounge at school earlier this week and I heard these presumably straight people talking, two women and a young man. They're talking about Brokeback Mountain.

At first, they had some nice things to say about the movie. They thought it was alright. One of them mentioned the part about Ennis Delmar ( Heath Ledger)'s wife Elma (Michelle Williams) losing him to another man ( Jake Gyllenhaal)and what she could have done to keep him. One of the women said these words : " If she wanted to keep him from going after another guy, she could have tried taking it up the ass. I'm sure her ass is tighter than a gay guy's. Nothing goes up there, usually."


At this point, all three of them started laughing. Why do straight people think that anal sex is a MUST between men who like other men ?

I got up and said : " There's more to being gay than anal sex !"


I exited the building shortly after. I didn't turn around.


How stupid can these people be ?

Because that is the most well-known sex act between 2 men. That and oral. And oral is more common among straight folks than anal. Any other things don't occur to them.

Well, that and they refuse to admit that some guys just aren't into girls. Just like some don't want to admit that some guys are into both.

I think that the problem is that people have such a hard time putting themselves into the mindset of someone who thinks differently than they do. It's a big difference between accepting, and understanding.

Someone might be the most open minded straight person in the whole world, and he still wouldn't be able to comprehend the emotions he feels for his wife directed at a same sex partner.

Like me, for instance. I can't imagine feeling the way I feel about men for women. I think women are hot, I'll fuck them, but I don't think of them the same way I think about men.

It's the same with polyamorous people - I can't even comprehend ever sharing or wanting to share, or being able to have two meaningful relationships at one time.

I'm accepting of these things, and I know in my heart and my head that these people are normal and fine and don't have anything wrong with them. I don't want them to change the way they behave or the way they act or the way they feel, but I can't comprehend it...

So I think a lot of people, since they can't wrap their heads around the actual human feelings and emotions, just think about the physical things that're different from their own relationships. Not all guys take it up the ass from their girlfriends, so they think that's what the appeal of homosexuality for men is. And the girls have a similar mindframe. Maybe they think lesbians just don't like cock. That's the only way they can wrap their heads around it.

Chicklet: about polyamourism, I am one of those people, who would accept, and understand it. Because of love, and a person who I deeply care about, has a polyamorous relationship with two women, and where one of the, is officially a lesbian, and the other is his "girlfriend", and they both know eachother, and at the same time they both know damn well the thing about the whole deal, even though one of them is playing a fool and denieing anything , one of them is an uptight bitch, among other stuff. And a wonderful lady. At the same time, and the other is his unofficial muse.

And he had never thought of, that in his old days, that he would have two women, who he gave love, and respected both of them, and vice versa.

Chicklet: with the love thing, well how can I say it, hmmm love is love. And you can write menstruation poetry(thank you, Dan Turell for that), and epos about it. And even publish it through the publisher. Anyway, you can´t explain love, since love is an individual thing, but I can explain it biologically. And other stuff.

But to me love is something I that I can write pages about, not getting into the core, since love is in medical term, very like insanity in some ways. And that is true.

Even I, if i didn´t fucked it up, with my last love would have been accepting a polyamourus relationsship. So love is something, I would rather feel, than anything else.

They may have been joking, in which case it would still be a joke in poor taste, but either way i wouldn't take them too seriously.

I guess I'm not quite following what the point of this thread is. If the point is that there is more to life than sex whether you are gay/bi/straight, then I'm in total agreement.

However, if the point of this thread is to somehow to degrade those of us who do like anal sex, then I don't go along with it at all. There are a lot of gay/bi men that think by saying that they don't do anal sex that for some reason they are closer to the straight side and superior and "cleaner" than those of us who do like anal sex. I have no use for such snobbish people.

Had the girls said you have to give a blow job to keep your man, would you have argued: "Why do straight people think that ORAL sex is a MUST between men who like other men ?" If you wouldn't have had that same thought, then you are as misinformed and bigoted about m2m sexuality as they are.
