Gay rights activists protest outside the lower house of Russia’s parliament, the State Duma, in Moscow, on June 11, 2013. Russia’s parliament debated today a law introducing steep fines and jail terms for people who promote homosexual “propaganda” to minors, a measure critics fear will be used to justify the repression of gays amid rising homophobia in the country.

Voting was 436-0 to ban gay ‘propaganda' so if stats are anything to go by, then 43 gay people voted in support of the ban

Off topic, is it just me or is the soldier in the back there checking out the boy in the white jacket's ass?

Need a link to see the law because unless the propaganda is defined there has to be a backyard deal in place to do something else later. One of those political things where something gets voted in and then later adjusted or removed so a certain group can be reelected.

Politics what a lovely thing.

Well I know Russia is incredibly homophobic

(sorry don't know why that image wants to download)

Youths kick a gay rights activist during a protest against a proposed new law termed by the State Duma, the lower house of Parliament, as "against advocating the rejection of traditional family values" in central Moscow June 11, 2013. REUTERS/Maxim Shemetov

As parliament debated the bill, gay activists who had taken part in a "kissing protest" outside parliament to demonstrate against the law were harassed and pelted with eggs by anti-gay protesters, then about 20 of them were arrested.

Look - no hypocrites in Russia
