Moonlight Elf

Excellent news on Moonie's waking up and beginning to recover. Let's all hope and/or pray that she makes a full one. :rose:  Hugs.

Thanks for keeping us in touch Abs. What would this place be without you? So many warm thoughts are with you Moonie.

The doctors believe that her mental functions and processes are good. She shows slight signs of memory loss but mostly around the time of the accident. Her speech is the major problem followed by motor skills such as walking. She will have to have both physical and speech therapy. But we believe a full recovery is possible.

Thus is actually a good recovery from a coma. Now the next thing is to get her into therapy and make full recovery an actual fact. C'mon Moonie, you can do it! :rose:

This is good news. :) Not perfect, but good. Stick with it, Moonie. :rose: We're all behind you while you make a full recovery. :)

Thanks for the update, Abs.

Sending positive energies your way, Moonie.

Slow and steady wins the race.

I'm off to refresh my candle.

Peace.

I'll begin this email with a message from Sis. She sends both of you her love. She says to say hello to everyone online and to thank them for her. She'll thank them properly when she can come online herself(it might be a little longer).

The last few days have been spent trying to judge her mental condition. Now that she is aware and awake the doctors had a chance to exam the extent of injury she has suffered. Coming out of a coma isn't like in the movies where the patient wakes up one day asks in a confused voice "Was I in a coma?". The reality is that recovery from a coma takes time. When she "woke" up she was confused and didn't know what had happened. The nurse on duty had to explain to her that she was in the hospital and had been in a coma.

Her attending doctor and a few others had crowded her bed asking her questions to test and see if she comprehended and her level of awareness. Found out that she has impared speech. She talks however the words are very unclear and slurred. It is difficult to make out what she is saying. From the look on her face she could tell that her words didn't come out right. She looked very scared. They tried giving her paper and pen. She wrote simple one or two words answers with very unsteady hands.

Again, thanks for your support. When I told her about your emails she had a huge smile on her face(of course she broke into tears later-she's a bit sentimental).

I can't wait to see her smile!
Thanks Abs for posting the update.
This is great news. :nana:

I knew she was strong. :)

Keep goin', moonie, you're doing great. :rose:

That's great news! :nana:   So happy!!!

Moonie, I received your gift yesterday. It is an amazing gift, and now that you're not here to thank, I'm even more speechless. I want to tell you what your sunrises and sunsets mean to me, but I can only do that if you're here.

For now, - I brought it with me to the office today and we put it where we can all see it. It's breathtaking, and everyone loves it.

But I still want to say thank you to you. Please get better so I can do that?

I miss you :rose:

Brother, keep faith.

Sending love and support to all of you.

quick update:

Sis began rehab today. She has 5 hours of "classes" everyday with 5 different therapists. The first few classes will be used to find out her weaknesses and decide on a plan of action.

She is extremely weak but her spirit is high. She wants to get better and is working hard towards that end.
