atta girl. Come out of the coma, then get out of the hospital, then some rest and healing, then you'll be dancing in no time.

Update:

I'll begin this email with a message from Sis. She sends both of you her love. She says to say hello to everyone online and to thank them for her. She'll thank them properly when she can come online herself(it might be a little longer).

The last few days have been spent trying to judge her mental condition. Now that she is aware and awake the doctors had a chance to exam the extent of injury she has suffered. Coming out of a coma isn't like in the movies where the patient wakes up one day asks in a confused voice "Was I in a coma?". The reality is that recovery from a coma takes time. When she "woke" up she was confused and didn't know what had happened. The nurse on duty had to explain to her that she was in the hospital and had been in a coma.

Her attending doctor and a few others had crowded her bed asking her questions to test and see if she comprehended and her level of awareness. Found out that she has impared speech. She talks however the words are very unclear and slurred. It is difficult to make out what she is saying. From the look on her face she could tell that her words didn't come out right. She looked very scared. They tried giving her paper and pen. She wrote simple one or two words answers with very unsteady hands.

The doctors believe that her mental functions and processes are good. She shows slight signs of memory loss but mostly around the time of the accident. Her speech is the major problem followed by motor skills such as walking. She will have to have both physical and speech therapy. But we believe a full recovery is possible.

Again, thanks for your support. When I told her about your emails she had a huge smile on her face(of course she broke into tears later-she's a bit sentimental).

I had a lump in my throat as I read that. She's getting better. We need to remember that. :rose:

Wow. That IS good. Cogent, coherent and spirited enough to smile. Everyone ain't that lucky. Add patience and determination to that, and I have no doubt of recovery.

Good news.
Lying in bed for a few weeks not using any muscles is bound to affect her motor/speech skills. It'll take time, but she'll improve.

Great news...Things might be undsteady at the moment but I'm sure if I'd been out for that long I wouldn't be in that good a condition...Heck, I probably could remember how to spell my own name...
