Money Payouts

Incidentally, blind judging was attempt here. Slick Willie coordinated a series of writing competitions in which everything entered was entered in his name with true authors (supposedly) not revealed until after the final bell. This would have provided the most objective approach to honest contests here. But a bunch of entering authors found a way to cheat this and were caught at it, so so much for that working here.

Funny how you're not telling the class that during one of the Fawcs-The one Lynn won-that you were caught alting in the thread. Your alt 4glory6 popped in to say the best stories were Lynns-who you're friends with-and that SRPLT oh, what a story he wrote...you then forgot to switch in reply and was caught fluffing yourself by Patientlee and others.

You're also the person here who was caught commenting repeatedly on your own stories raving about how great you were. There are people here who still have those screenshots to prove it.

So maybe you should think about continuing to call out cheating when you've been caught doing it....twice.

And more than a few of us know its been more than that, and recently.

For a time I worked at a company that made jewelry for Tiffany, real deal high end high value items. My company made The Patriots Superbowl rings one year. Obviously in a place like that, security is priority because of how much 24k gold in finished and raw form is there. For an idea, Brinks would drop off raw 24k grain, comes in a decent sized prescription bottle for a visual of the size, fits in the palm of your hand. I'd sign for a sack with 6 of them, at the time $360,000 in my hand.

We had security guards, no one went in and out without being scanned, had to take your shoes off, women weren't allowed to where any jewelry other than a wedding band and a watch, same for guys. Cameras everywhere, and there was a person responsible to weigh and measure every troy ounce of gold each supervisor was given for their current job.

Once I had to go behind the building to take care of a delivery and saw something shining in the sun, walked over to one of the locked back doors and found a piece of scrap gold-we would keep it and sell it back to be refined-it was melted down to be barely thicker than a piece of paper and slid under the door to be collected later.

Point of this ramble? Someone wants it, they can find a way to do it, and that applies here as well. Like many here I have no idea why someone would cheat for a few bucks or even the "I won a contest" prestige. I've gotten past the point of it pissing me off to leaning towards I feel bad for someone for it to mean that much. The Cabin group was a different story because it was an entire group making a concerted effort, not one person trying to help their one story it was about hating Lit, yet wanting to dominate it at the same time.

Before its mentioned by my number one fan here, and because I shoot straight and don't play games, I was a member of that group when it was just a few authors from here who'd formed a pro boards forum to talk about writing without the limits or trolls form here, but when certain others joined, and it went from we want to have a option other than lit to let's start winning all their contests and here's how we'll do it, I bowed out. In fairness to a lot of the people there, this was really driven by two-three people with others just going along blindly trusting like people often do.

I was the one that initially exposed what was going on when I saw members there win first in back to back contests because it wasn't fair to anyone else. During that whole disaster I had two others standing with me TX Rad-who Laurel threatened to 'punish' if he didn't stop telling the truth-and believe it or not Keith/Pilot who saw what they were doing. At one point there were 16 of them, but honestly some were having doubts and maybe 10 stuck with the game, which then included endless nasty threatening feedbacks to me-anon-comments on my stories, bombs, and a slew of negative reviews on my paid work so obvious I was able to get them removed which doesn't happen often, but 12 in one night does raise flags

So, again for the OP, and others who came here post 2015 or so, that's why he's getting the jaded reaction and how we all know that although its a good thought and concept....there's reasons we can't have nice things.

Methinks that someone who reveals how deeply he is stalking and fantasizing about me continues to be butthurt that at the height of one of his self-righteous and hypocritical rants on the voting issue he was outed on the discussion board as having been a member of a voting cabal here himself. ;)

Thank you for bringing that to my and everyone's attention.

None of these shenanigans are unique to here. Favoritism and you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours are endemic in the real publishing world. Pick up any book and look at the rave reviews on the jacket from fellow authors. And when their books come out, guess who writes rave reviews for their jackets?

The last thing this site is needs is more contests and ratings battles, which only further the pettiness and bad behavior on frequent display. If you want to make money from your writing, which is absolutely legitimate and reasonable in my books, then publish on any of the pay sites that feature or accept erotica. It's as easy as posting here-easier in fact-and you won't get one-bombed. If someone trashes your story, at least they paid for the privilege. I have a couple of dozen books on pay sites and almost all have brought in more than any prize here (in some cases considerably more and they are still selling).

As far the money this sites generates, have any of you ever patronized the can girls here or bought sex toys in their store? I have not and the competition in both those areas is such that I question how much revenue they bring in. The fact that after 20 years in business, it's still a two person operation implies it isn't a huge business success, whatever it's litearary achievements may be.

I understand what you're saying about the fuckery that goes on.

It was just something that crossed my mind, and wanted to get some dialogue and opinions from fellow authors here.

I don't believe there are many people who enter the contests for the money. They enter in order to draw more readers to their stories.

A for the monthly awards, which account for the most money, trying to win them looks exactly like trying to write the best story you can, so any other motivations seem irrelevant to me.
