the problem is, how do you write a mob story right now without acknowledging the Sopranos? And that isn't a series I see translating into a parody- it already is one!

of course, we could make it an alternate ending to the episode where Chris, Adriana and the FBI chick are on the couch. But how do you avoid just reverting into boroing common 3way stufff? Have tony come in at the climax?

and I've never seen " Friends" , but any story I write about 3 guys and 3 gals living fab lives and having wacky fun would be compared to it.

Sure, people could make comparisons, but that is true for anything in life. Remember people mentioning a while back (I forget who it was, but I know it was more than one poster) that they got very negative feedback from readers who accused them of "stealing" details from their real lives? It happens. It doesn't mean those authors chose a random person, followed them, and then stole their lives!

Besides, not all of the people from Friends have "fab" jobs. Joey is an actor who hardly gets work. Chandler has expressed his dislike of being some kind of data entry guy. Rachel had to struggle to have a halfway decent job. Pheobe doesn't work (or almost never does). Monica had to struggle to find a job she finally enjoyed.
