Partner trades places with another self from the multiverse

So I know I’ve pitched werewolf ideas before but I figured I’d step it up a notch:

What if you met someone you were head over heels with but the next day you wake up with them having swapped places with another version of them from another universe?

For example: Guy curls up in bed with his girlfriend and then wakes up the next day with another a sentient plant that tells him not to worry, it’s just another version of his girlfriend and that version will be back the next day…but while she’s gone, maybe he could tickle its pistil?

I just think it would be fun to see someone with a partner where every version is different (and that can include different sex and gender) but is affectionate towards MC, even when they are terrifying.

For example:

The smell of brimstone only seemed to grow as the demoness strutted through the apartment, looking at the tablet with growing interest.

“Yes, this shall be an easy world to conquer. I doubt it shall even last a day before Inhave it erecting a throne for me.” She turned to him and stroked his face, “do not worry, my beloved. While you are not quite the specimen as my own personal consort I will show deference to you and your loved ones. Perhaps I shall carve out a country or two for them that will be spared from the flames of damnation. Ah, it shall be a good day. Now strip my beloved! We must whet our lusts before we set out and conquer this minuscule world!”

I think this would be hilarious, maybe it could happen each week on a specific day (for example every sunday.), where every week he wonders what version of his GF he is getting this sunday.

His GF is whisked away to a different universe every week as well and has sex with another version of him.

This sounds like it something @PennyThompson could write honestly haha.

What if she finds out that not in every universe is she married to a version of him?
Surely there are universes where her ex wasn't such a dick or when spring break wasn't trained out and she met someone. Literally endless possibilities where in each case it's someone she could be attracted to sexually.

But maybe it's something about their dynamic or something this particular couple did that's causing it to happen, and so while those universes exist she's not being swapped with them but only the ones where she and this particular guy are a couple. Although the status of their relationship might still vary from universe to universe. Like sometimes they're dating, other times engaged, married, fwb, mates, in some sort of poly relationship or affair partners. But no matter the status they are having sex on the regular.

All is fun and games until his gf finds out she's pregnant.
Now who's is it? Or better yet, what version of him got her pregnant?

Or what if the swapping system has an error, suddenly they are somewhere outside of space and time. There are 3 versions of her and 3 versions of him together there. Lots of weird sex and debauchery later, it is fixed and they are returned to their own universe.

Now the question arises, what makes this happen? Is there someone behind it?
