Your PM box is full, but here is what you were looking for:
From Laurel: I feel like I've arrived at the party late, and I've missed a lot of the fun stuff. That won't stop me from seeing if I can cause a little more mayhem.
You should never see pop-ups on Lit. If you do, it's very likely that you have some nefarious software installed on your machine. At one point, Google got so many complaints about pop-ups that they put up this FAQ page:
http://www.google.com/help/nopopupads.html
Some scummy programs, like Gator or Morpheus/Kazaa, will pop consoles or add banners to any website you visit. This is highly unethical, and probably illegal, but that doesn't stop certain companies from doing it. The good news is it can only happen if you install certain programs on your computer, and those programs can be removed.
As far as the signature issue, I do think it's a little redundant to have a signature ad for the same site listed in your profile. Your profile URL is automatically listed along with each post. However, I think everyone knows that we love Ambro, FG, Guru, and the AA posse, so I would not have said anything about the signature myself. If a bunch of people started advertising sites, then we might have to make some rule about it, but generally people tend to use the profile URL for promotion.
On a philosophical note, the potential problem with signature advertising has less to do with ad dollars (we don't currently have ads on the forum, I don't think) and more to do with motivating crappy posts. In some communities that I've been a part of where they allow rampant spammy sigs, people tend to make a lot more shitty posts because they have a motive to do so. I don't think that's the case here at all, but it is definitely something I've noticed on other forums. I can't tell you how many "Haha! That was funny!" posts I've seen with a 6-line AllAdvantage ad sig.
So, I guess my take on this is that because it's AA and we don't hate them as much as we hate everyone else, I would turn the other cheek. If it became an epidemic, or if Ambro adds that flashing 600x300 pixel AA banner back to his sig, then I might start to head butt some people.
Now, I'm gonna go back to Getting Paid To Surf The Internet. If you need me, just type in AllAdvantage.com/signupunderme/imgoingtoberich/laurel/
