I also file US taxes and I get to vote
Yes, I still need to file US taxes. Not sure why, because I don't work in the US and I currently do not own property there. But those are the rules. We all know lace is trolling, but I was actually curious. I don't really know anything about living abroad. I thought you worked in and then paid taxes in Canada. I had no idea there was a reason to file US taxes if you're not working or earning in any given country.
Don't be an idiot.Rock, not lace.
If she needs handouts from governments, that’s why the help is there. I hope she’s able to keep the lights on and feed her children.
If she doesn’t need it but takes it anyway? That’s different.

Because any amount you earn in a foreign country, above a certain amount (it used to be $70,000) you still have to pay US taxes on.

I’ve never taken any government money and take a dim view of freeloaders.
But i know “ lots of people do it”.

Should I mail it back? What good would that do?
If I could get to the US to stimulate their economy, I certainly would do so. God knows shopping is way better there.
There is nothing freeloading about it, as I qualify.
Keep trolling. I am done with this conversation with you.As I said, there are lots of people who think what you're doing is okay.
Especially if you qualify for government assistance.
Keep in mind, the thread is called "misspent stimulus check" because lots of people think it's okay.

Picking Out the Freeloaders
He or she buys luxuries instead of necessities. (snowmobiles, etc)
He or she acts like a victim. (see posts)
I can't say I blame you, freeloader.

So this means you will not draw social security or medicare? Even if you get so ill that you can't afford to pay for your medical bills out of your own pocket?
If you do draw social security or medicare do you swear not to receive more than what you paid into the system?
Do you know what we call a Democrat? A former Republican whose kids need braces.
So you don’t take your tax refunds?
They automatically mail it to my house because I file taxes. Should I mail it back? What good would that do?

I am sorry you don’t.
I do plenty of paying it forward.
You do know that your tax refund isn't "government money" it's YOUR money the government kept you from having for a year and didn't pay you interest on for the privilege, yes?
