Hmmm....okay what about using the power idea from Hellboy and pair it together with something else?
Say we have an Xmen style thing where some of us have wonderous powers and we all go about discovering each in some fantasical reality? I'm not explaining this very well but do you get my meaning?
But we don't have boring powers and we're not all in total control of our powers. Like some of us can go invisible, telekenesis, pyrokenesis, shapeshifting etc and we could set it in the time of the greek gods??
