Only 30% of youth qualify for a job that totals 1% of the population. Sounds like a non-issue to me. The military isn't even hurting that bad for bodies. We should be a lot more concerned about how many kids can't get into college and force us to import kids from nations where the education system doesn't suck.
We are the brain drain for the world. If you are smart and hard working, you will have a successful life. Our El-Hi education system is flawed because of government intervention. Our post grad university education is the best in the world.
I don't mind being a brain drain on the world, that's fine. Being smart however is only half the equation. Our El-Hi education is flawed because it's flawed not because of government intervention. However our Post Grad is the best in the world, but there are plenty of good non-US schools as well. I'd happily trade for slightly less awesome Post Grad system for an EL-Hi program that isn't complete crap.
I agree if it were possible. My daughter teaches in inner city Philly, grades 7 thru 12. She tells me of daily fights in the hallway and every other day in her class. Profanity is the norm, every nasty word every hour. The students know that they can't expelled because the school will lose federal money, so the crazyness goes on, with the students in charge. Try to teach in this environment.
First the students don't know they can't be expelled. I'd be willing to bet close to none of them are even aware at all of how schools get their funding. Now they may know good and damn well they won't be expelled but not because they understand the system. However that's an entirely different problem than what you mentioned previously.

Do you honestly believe more people should be enrolled in college?I believe there are too many. Many of them take useless courses, graduate, and expect to parlay their degrees in Black Studies or Liberal Arts or History of Art or Basket Weaving
or other crap into high paying jobs and the adulation of their peers. You might be right about students who study math and science and computer programming or medicine or other useful subjects.
That's a total load of shit.
maybe if the military worked with michelle obama, more kids could be service ready.
Actually, that's largely true.
Not even close to reality.....in what world does hard work = getting paid? I LOL every time I hear some retard conservative utter that total pile of shit.
You make the big bucks by getting a bunch of people together and getting them to work hard for you......
If what you said was true the Jose and Juanita would be balling the fuck out now wouldn't they? But they are indeed not...neither are any of the ground level grunts working their tits off every day for jack shit pay just enough to keep them on food stamps.
Their boss's boss's boss? Makes 7 figures a year off their hard work while he goes to schmooze moar deals with all his money at the country/yacht club.
I repeat, hard work = you're doing it fucking wrong....![]()
I still say if a person is capable and smart and willing to work hard, he or she will be successful, even sometimes earning a seven figure income. Of course, the work must be in the right field of endeavor. You are never going to get rich digging ditches or working on an assembly line but most people who are capable and smart don't do that kind of work, at least not any longer than they can help.
Like many of your kind, your thoughts seem to be stuck in the 19th Century.![]()
No, yours are stuck in the 19th century. In the real world there is a very real "luck" factor that works in. Yes there are people who are smart enough to overcome a lot of crap but usually there are limits.
I will concede that being in the right place at the right time can be a factor in success but, unless we mean total dumb luck, such as winning the lottery, it takes more than luck.
