So, how do we define these categories and how do we feel about them?

I'm not a mother or a grandmother. I'm not a divorcee. I'm just a woman who is single right now. On the urban side, they'd call me a 'cougar.' But, that is a name I'm not too fond of. It is certainly better than the ilf tag, but it makes me feel like a animal so desparate for love that she is willing to snarl around in lurid places to find it with just about any willing person. That is not how I operate.

What's your acronym? Does it fit you? Why?

i guess im in the milf category..but im not crazy about that title. something about being a mother and someone wanting to do me in the same sentence....it just doesnt do it for me. lets just leave the mother part out and let the men say they would love to have sex with me...that sounds so much better.

Yeah. I completely see what you're saying. These labels are kind of annoying to me. I like names like "stone fox," "hot babe," "wild child," or any that have more positive connotations.

I have to agree with you. The fact that a woman is divorced or has a child has nothing to do with her sexual desirability. GILF might mean something, because a grandmother is seen as being in her late forties or older, although there are grandmothers in their thirties. My wife is a GGILF. :)

I don't know where the term "cougar" came from. I heard of a game show or quiz show called "Cougars vs. Kittens" or something like that, and it was a contest between women in their twenties and women in their forties. Later on, I heard the term applied to women who were sexually aggressive, especially toward much younger men. They used to be called "Mrs. Robinsons."

I have no problem at all with a woman who is sexually aggressive, and I wish I had known some while I was a teenager. I have written several stories about womeh in their forties having sex with younger men, and I have always portrayed them positively, and I always will.

exactly the only difference in me now and the me before kids? i know who i am and i know what i like and need. that came with age and maturity..not from giving birth.

You don't think you become more mature after having kids? I think that's a major draw, the woman who has given birth is different than the one she was previous. A woman in full, no more question of girlishness. French Lit of the 19th century is rife with MILFS. The male teenagers lost their virginity to prostitutes to get it out of the way, and as they entered adulthood their ideal lovers were always married women with children whom they'd try to prove their worth too. The contemporary interest in MILFS in pornography is pretty strange, but I don't think it's far from the sexiness of threshold crossing that Romantic Literature has always put on show. Although, it's more kitsch than anything else in our culture now, all the MILF talk. The warrior back from battle is a sex symbol all over the place, a mature woman with child is just the equivalent of the war veteran. Joseph Campbell wrote about that kind of stuff.

no i dont think the type of maturity im talking about i got from being a mother. from having them i learned to be responsible, putting their needs and wants before mine..etc. becoming a sexual being came from learning who i was on the inside..and trust me..that part of me doesnt have anything to do with my kids.

On the urban side, they'd call me a 'cougar.'
Naw. You're only a cougar if you're hunting down young men. I'm sure there's a totally different feline title if you're hunting down young ladies. Puma, maybe? ;)

MILF is more about age than whether a woman has kids. She's a woman in the early to mid-late thirties as apposed to the teeny and twenty boppers. She has her head on straight, knows what she wants and how to get it. She's not shy but she's not forward. She is who she is, take it or leave it.

As for Cougars, a well heeled cougar doesn't snarl or growl, she sweeps the younger kitties away with sophisticated disdain. Most guys don't know what hit them. :D

Oh, and a Puma and a Cougar are the same animal, just called different names in different parts of the country.

good answer....i truly believe women really dont know who they are, as a woman til they are in their 30's. i know i didnt.

The whole idea of MILF, Gilf or anything else comes down to one thing, that woman is DDG and has a sexual appeal to a great number of men. It's a woman's confidence in herself that attracts men to them when they're Mom's. She obviously likes sex, because she's with child, so the worry of whether she likes sex or not is out of the picture. Experienced women are what men of all ages look for and the more she shows her experience through her actions and dress, the more desirable she becomes.

Score another point for internet porn.

Milf, Gilf, Dilf, ATM, DP, etc. There will be another cute acronym tomorrow.

None of these have anything to do with real life.

I would think the age would extend. I could be a grandmother, I suppose (I started way, way early), but I'm not - yet.

"Cougar" never bothered me. I see them more like you've described above. :D

"early to late mid-thirties?" In actual numbers, that would be... thirty-four to thirty-six? You're assigning a mighty short shelf life to some very vital and self-directed women-- take my irritation and scorn as read.

According to your measurements, I'm twenty years too old to be one, but the male young adults hearabouts have said that I'd be an MILF -- if I weren't a dyke.

Some of the young adult women hearabouts have the ability to turn me into a cougar. I mean Liger.:D

As a GILF to be...I hate these labels. I am young enough (early 40s) that yes, I can be a GILF but no, I don't associate with the term Grandma yet.

Grandbaby isn't delivered yet and I had a friend calling me GILF from almost the day I told them daughter was pregnant. Daughter and friends wanted to get me a GILF shirt, they thought it was funny. Luckily my big fuzzy guy is a good guy cause he said I'd always be a MILF or GILF to him.:heart:

How you perceive your sexuality doesn't necessarily have to change when you have kids, but your significant other will perceive you differently, and usually that leads to a change in how they view you as a sexual being. It has nothing to do with the children, it's more about the change in you, the responsibility, motherliness and whatever.

Motherhood brings out a new sensuality, maybe a type your lover has never seen before in you, and that can be a turn on, even if your new sensuality is only directed toward the child. Me and my wife are trying to get pregnant, I've already seen her change a bit just in accepting the plan to have a baby. A thirty year-old with a child is sexier to me than one without because it's automatic she's probably more mature, and it's like living proof that she's able to reproduce and bring up your own offspring if you happen to be available. This last bit is more subconscious, and porn doesn't really represent that aspect. But porn doesn't represent anything well.

I don't see GILF or DILF around really, it's all MILF.

i think alot of times, men do see us differently after having kids. even my hubby made a comment or two after seeing me give birth...he just never saw me quite the same afterwards..and i dont think he meant it in a good way. having kids really put a damper on our sex life. i think all small children do that to most parents. by the time i got it back i had changed, drastically.
i can only speak for myself, but being a mother and being a sexual person are 2 very different parts of me. i see them as two things id rather not mingle...
