There are a few ladies around Lit suffering from migrain - and I remember a thread from a while back, dealing with possible herbal (and other ) remedies ...

Can't recall the thread name or link but I know I learned about feverdew there ...

Hope you find a way to deal with it

It was my thread

I'm very sorry to hear that, Mistress. I wish you the best. My sister suffers the same thing almost regularly.

Hey Mistress chocolate is good for migrains I use it all the time

Funny, I always heard that chocolate was a migraine trigger, along with red wine, dairy products - especially cheese, and caffeine just to name a few.

I get them bad enough that I'm out for 24 hrs sometimes longer. Tunnel vision, numb tongue, light sensitivity and vomiting. All at the same time. Funny enough, most prescription meds for them contain caffeine and a side effect is if you take them for too long, they can increase the frequency and severity of them.

Hope you feel better soon. I don't get migraines but I do have a doozy of a headache right now myself.

I think I was one of the advocates of feverfew-also look into myofacial massage-amazing results with that too! Chocolate is usually a trigger for migraines, but hey give it a go-I am always in favor of chocolate!

injectible imitirx for migraines

I've had migraines for years and years.
Spent a lot of time at headache clinics and seeing pain docs.
Missed lots of stuff cuz if i moved from my dark quiet room, i'd be throwing up and in blinding pain.

Now i have imitirx, injectible form. There's an oral form of imitrix available too, but its effectiveness rate is abysmally low. However, the cost of the oral pills is less than nothing (a penny? two?) compared to the injectible form (almost $100) so docs and drug company push the pills first, of course. The hell with if they actually work.

Imitirx works for me about 3/4 of the time. The other 1/4 of the migraines, i just take vicodin and float through them. (And, btw and from another thread, i do have prescriptions for both of those drugs.)

Maybe you should ask your doc about injectible imitrix.

I have pills of that stuff but..without money..you cant really get more Smiles

Darlin', go to your local community health people and ask them for resources for this. If you're a student, go to your medical facility there on campus. If it's an emergency, and most classify a full-on migraine as an emergency, then they can't not treat you. At least that's what i think. Am i wrong?

One of my docs, when he was trying to get me content with using the imitrix pills instead of my continually pushing for the imitrix injections (the stuff that actually works for my migraines), told me this about the pills:
Your stomach metabolizes them quickly. After they're metabolized, they'll be in your digestive system instead of in your bloodstream where they can do you some good. So do one of these things:
1. Eat something before or with the imitrix pill you take. Of course, as all migraine sufferers know, even if you could possibly eat something, you'd probably just throw it right back up, right? So this advice sucks.
2. Take one imitrix pill. Wait a half hour and take another one. The logic here is that the first one will be slowing things in your digestive sys just a tiny bit by the time you take the second imitrix pill. MAYBE, if you've been a good girl, enough of the second pill will get into your blood stream BEFORE it's metabolized to do you some good.

Don't take a third one another half hour later though, was this doc's advice. There are serious limitations on how many imitrix you can take in 24 hours, as you know.

Might as well try it if you've got all those imitrix pills just lying around, hmmm?

I feel bad for you, babes. Migraines suck (and not in a fun way).

The difference between Excedrin Extra Strength pain reliever, and Excedrin Migraine is the price! About a penny more a tablet around here for exactly the same formulation. Read the labels.

Yup! I discovered that when it was first introduced to the market and couldn't believe it. I just laughed at all the people who claimed it was so much better than "regular" Excedrin. Even cheaper is the local generic brand with the same active ingredients- Target's own brand, for example.

Check out Walmat's "Equate" store brand. They generally have a two for one packaging of their Excedrin analog that gets you 200 tablets for the price of 60 tablets of Excedrin Migraine.

The best thing for me is to use a cold cloth and clear my mind of all thought.
Cuddles close and says, Try a nice cool shower sweety.
