For starters that's hardly the point. If I count however last Tuesday. I actually enjoy shooting at the range and I'm fairly good shot.

However the actual crux of the matter is we do have a culture that celebrates guns, our heroes wield guns, we entertain ourselves with everything from playing Cowboys and Indians to Call of Duty. We have what, a gun for every third citizen (now we both know that's kind of a bullshit statistic since the fact that the people who have an entire arsenal wouldn't realistically balance that way since they only have the two hands.

The fact that I can pull up a dozen threads on Lit alone about guns with tons and tons of defenders (myself amongst them all things said and done.) with the bullshit arguments of it's a right, or guns don't kill people people kill people. Is part of our gun culture.

Just like your point here is frankly silly. Would you accept that Americans don't have a entrepreneurial spirit because you can't name x amount of people who are self employed? Of course not. You'd laugh, call me stupid and move along.

It does however make America a red meat eating culture and to claim it isn't is dishonest.

Lit is actually a fairly good example of mainstream thought once you figure out how to read it.

The idea that most people don't give a fuck about guns is absurd. People don't fight this hard over things they don't care about. If most people didn't give a fuck the argument this year, and last year, and the year before would have gone like this. "We should do something about those guns." Majority "Knock yourself out." But it's not.

Perhaps you should stay in, do a little channel surfing and tell me again how the media doesn't glorify guns in this country. Show me how we don't entertain ourselves that way. I guess it's a coincidence that Medal of Honor and Call of Duty come out annually? Just because you don't understand what a culture is doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I recently visted a holocaust museum. The pictures of the camps were graphic and they had many hands on displays in addition survivors telling their stories on video. It is much easier to make ignorant arguments about the government taking away second amendent rights when you dont have to face the reality of the horror assault weapons can cause. I dont believe that the childrens photos should be released out of respect for the parents but i do believe we should pay more attention to the carnage our love affair with guns causes year after year. I also think that those who oppose reasonable gun laws are being manipulated and used by the NRA which in fact is nothing more than a lobbying service for gun makers.

You can keep saying this and it doesn't make it true. It's certainly far from universal and again if your government wants you dead you fucking die. No citizenry in the modern world is equipped to take on their government in any sort of war where actually just slaughtering them is an option.

Likewise the Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto put up what I think can be called a damn good fight and the Japanese in America, virtually none. One group had the 2nd Amendment one group had been disarmed (albeit largely by the previous administration). You not liking facts doesn't actually stop them from existing.

If you want to talk numbers however lets start with what states get the most money from the Fed and the least. The fact is that if you think California and New York have problems, your absolutely right. A large part of that is we're floating about 34 worthless states that drag us down. If we kept that money instead of redistributing it to stupid people (not lazy, you're hard working you're just not worth a damn) we'd be just fine. Texas would be fine too, they contribute other than that nope. Especially not when you factor in the size of each economy and not just what they get vs what they give.

1) The reason for the 2nd amendment is to keep the government honest (or try). A government is less likely to try anything against its citizens if they are armed. If you disarm a population, you get Stalin's Russia, Hitler's Germany, Mao's China, Pol Pot's Cambodia, etc.....

2) If the Jews in Germany/Poland/Russia had arms, it is possible that the holocaust would not have happened or been so severe (and before anybody strikes out at me, 98% of my family in Europe DIED in the camps, and I am third generation from them)

3) Why do you think the shooter at Sandy Hooks stopped? He knew people were coming with guns. If the people that were coming did not have guns, he would have continued to kill the teachers and students. He would have shot through the doors to get them. He did not, because it would have taken to much time, so he killed himself.

4) The other states pulling down California...LOL. (California steals water from Nevada and Arizona.) The other states have about as much natural resources (such as HUGE reserves of oil along the Gulf coast,oil in North Dakota/Alaska..timber everywhere, etc) that they are prevent from using because of the "tree huggers" from California.....

just to add on to #4- The State of Alabama has oil and natural gas fields, iron/limestone/coal in abundance, timber, farm land, fresh water in abundance and ports.
