Men are PIGS

I think Charley's basically right, where the common fetishes are spoken of; I don't think many women would masturbate to a man's shorts stolen from the clothesline. Or to some 'male' item, like a necktie.

Camille Paglia wrote about this topic under 'female perversions,' and I think her somewhat opposite point is correct also: there are some very kinky women, in fantasy at least, if you 'read between the lines.' But as several posters have mentioned, society is suppressive of such expressions. One of her examples, iirc, was Emily Dickinson, some of whose poems (and writings) have a real SM quality, like "use me, stomp on me." Some of the women saints should be mentioned also, e.g. St. Theresa's famous dream of the Angel piercing her body repeatedly with his spear, bringing on ecstasy.

Men do have "hit me, beat me, make me write bad checks", outside of that, men fantasize about women, but much on the other end. It's the same when it come to getting sex. Women don't pay for sex.

I think you're wrong... hell, I know you're wrong.
Anne Rice, for one, if you need a "real author" name, and since mine won't do, evidently. :D

Camille Paglia... such a nice little academic. How about Annie Sprinkle, Susie Bright, Pat Califia? Not only do they discuss erotica, they write it, and do what they are writing about.

Yes, I was pretty shocked when I read Dickenson, actually. She was presented to us in middle school. Uh huh... such a lady-like poet!

There is a fairly large sub-genre of queer female erotica.
It's indicative that it has to be considered a sub-genre, I suppose- but society is pretty oppressive of all kink, male as well as female.

After the "Sleeping Beauty" thing, I think Anne Rice sucks!

So?

The question was- are women ever fetishistic.
Charlie doesn't think so- I do.

Yeah, women are freakish...women guide men into the unknown

I don't know. What is a fetish in the first place?

I know that I have a wonderful friend. She is strong, she is tough, she is as independant as anyone I have ever met. She is also proud to a fault. She refuses help for herself even when she truly needs it. Would I take this woman to bed? You better believe it. (My wife, bless her heart is slowly leaning more and more towards the both of us taking this young lady to bed.) This lady is also, as I have mentioned, a friend. (One of three, and one of those is my wife.) I would quite literaly give her the clothes off my back if that would help her.

What do I want to do to her in bed? I want to slowly and carefully explore every inch of her body with my fingers, my eyes and my tongue. I want her to feel that she is special. I want her to know that for that time she is with me her needs, her pleasures are what are important. In other words I want her to feel what my wife feels.

I want to run my tongue over and warm with my breath her nipple rings and her Clit ring. I want to trace her tattoos with my tongue. I want to make her scream when she reaches orgasm, and not from pain as her ex used to.

I also want her to know and feel that she is important to me as a person.

I want her to feel safe and protected, I want her to know that there is a person out there who cares for her.

Is this a fetish? Maybe, but if it is so be it.

but freakish is one thing- fetish is different.

worshipping boots, or getting turned on by the mere sight of a strapon... or having a set of words that trigger orgasm- these things, I think, are fetishistic.

so is fixating on a body type, or clothing style, and that is nearly normal.

Hell, I knew a woman who had the strangest fetish i've ever heard of. Hot peppers- smeared on her skin, her face or breasts, by force.

sweetie, a fetish is an object that can substitute for sex, or enhance it to an extreme degree...
Your girl is herself, and your fixations and fantasies are not about anything but herself.
My point is that- some women can be turned on by boots, for instance. Regardless of who's wearing them.

Some women can be turned on b boots, too true.

What I was trying to say was that a fetish can be anything. A fetish is not necasarily something odd, it can be something normal. (I don't know about the rest of the world but here in the United States it has become the norm to associate a fetish with something that is wrong.) If it turns you on then it can be classified as a fetish. What turns your crank? Feathers? Pain? Tattoos, scat, urine, leather, Monogamy, Polyandry, Diapers, Piercings, drunk Uncles, Teddy Bears? It doesn't matter. To someone this would classify as a fetish.

To many people my wanting to be gentle, to be caring, to share with another would be classified as a fetish. To way too many others my wanting to expand this to another outside of my marriage would classify it as not only a fetish but as illegal and highly immoral. So where do we draw the line, or do we? Maybe we should just accept things and allow people to enjoy themselves if they aren't hurting other people.

Who would classify caring, gentle sex as a fetish?
And we were specifically talking about the odd fetishes.. I think...
Fetishes are outside the norm, everywhere.
Although most European countries think our insistence on monogamy is sort of ridiculous, caring gentle sex is highly regarded! :rose:

OK...

My personal preferences follow a whole lot of what I read in here (the AH, not stories). Turn-offs seem enormously far more prevalent that turn-ons. The wrong gender, the wrong body type, etc. so often mean that the juices simply don't flow. In contrast, though I'll admit it does exist, simply the right kind of boots, lingerie, or whatever, seems very rarely to get anyone dripping.

Of course, that doesn't really answer your question. Of the tiny minority who are turned on by fetishes, I really haven't a clue whether more or fewer are male or female. All I know for certain is that I find SEX sexy - any woman who finds me desirable is to some degree desireable to me (sufficient for me to bring her to climax). Things simply leave me lukewarm, or less.

Either you're wrong, Charlie, or at least over-generalising, or the contents of my underwear are misleading.

Better?

*has a fetish that does, indeed, make little squishes at any given time*

Seems to me the evidence proves your theory wrong and even the opposite. Most of the men here aren't writing fetishes nor are they using "things". Meanwhile most of the women here have at least one story involving dildos or vibrators of one variety or another.

Perhaps it's the women who are pigs. ;)
Oink!!!

I always believed a "fetish," an actual fetish, was something that was absolutely necessary to the owner in order for them to achieve sexual satisfaction.

Be it leather or latex, whips or chains, diapers or dildos - whatever. A true fetish is something that is required for them to orgasm.

Many of us have little things we enjoy. *ahem*

But I certainly don't need to be spanked over my hubby's lap in order to have a serious sexual experience. It's nice, hell, it's incredible, but we do play in other ways. Many other ways.

But there isn't one thing we do, one role play, one costume, one material or lube or toy or whatever that is absolutely vital for me to orgasm.

I just need him.

(or myself, when he's not around.) :D
