You like the Republican party but you are wearing an avatar decrying homophobia.

Interesting.

I'm conservative...I'm also bisexual...but I still am conservative...anyway my avatar is not the purpose of this thread.

I like Log Cabin Republicans.

And African-American Republicans like Condi and Colin.

Republicans starting to come in all colors and flavors...

I believe that me being "gay" or whatever you want to call it...doesn't matter when it comes to politics..the only one making an issue out of this is the liberal left. I put my av up because I think its message is a good one. I don't advocate "special" rights to anyone...no matter who/what they are....

*JMO*

I hate the idea of republicans. Damn shame that I'm forced to vote for them because they are the best option.

Right... But, if you have enjoyed gay/bi rights, you'd better enjoy them while they last.

I have the same basic rights as anyone else. I have everything I need.

Well, if you are gay you certainly don't have the right to get married in my state.

Oh yeah, Ashcroft's having the troops suited in black with those shiney SS lapels even as we speak...

Who said I wanted to marry anyone anyway?

And the Democrats had a lot of time to change that. So the question for gays is the same as for African Americans. What did you get other than lip service?

Exactly. I am happy, I know I am a minority when it comes to my viewpoints on this issue...but I don't care.

No it's a religious ceremony designed to bless a union in the eyes of gawd almighty.

Not a social contract.

We need those.

I consider being able to marry someone of your choosing a basic right.

Yes, that is true. I am *chosing* not to marry. Maybe this will change...*shrug*

Luna,

Maybe you need to get a bit more updated on the status of gay rights in America.

Do you realize in some states, a person can still be prosecuted for engaging in sodomy? Do you realize that the Supreme Court ruled that this was constitutional and not party of our right to privacy? Do you realize that the members of the Court that voted this way are the ones who fit in the mold of Republican judicial appointees?

Even if you don't want to get married, don't many in the GLBTT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, trangendered, transsexual) community desire marriage and children? If you are truly advocating gay rights, I should think that these rights would matter. These aren't "special rights." These are rights that any normal citizen has.

I could go on ad nauseum about gay rights, but I think at some point you have to take an interest in politics enough to know exactly what the politicians have to say about homosexuals. It might be eye-opening.

I don't care about gay rights...that's not an issue for me...

If you check I think you'll find that most sodomy laws on the books don't specify hetero or homosexual.

Hence the avatar....

By the way, you can be homosexual AND conservative,

SINthysist manages to...

The democrats only have four less seat in the senate than the Republicans. They are a little worse off in the house where the difference is difference is 26 seats or about 6% of the total seats. They still control half the governorships in the country.

They aren't in the drivers seat, but they are a long way from being irrelevant. They just need some new faces and some sack.

When CONs start slashing social programs to cut taxes and still find a way to increase spending...big boat Mississippi. Questionable Supreme Court nominations...Bork.

Having said that, though, I think our feckless leader will continue to perservere in his quest to undo the eight years of peace and prosperity that Americans suffered under the previous administration.
None of which was due in any part to any actions of the previous administration.
