Posting this because I'm certain there will be no retraction posted here by the gullible old coot who so gleefullly promoted the hoax:
If you're crazy and starved for your fifteen minutes of fame in America, just claim you were brutalized by a big black man. You'll always find a willing audience.
One Texan's tall tale debunked: McCain volunteer admits making up attack story
Did you hear of the story where the McCain campaign volunteer was robbed by an Obama supporter who carved a "B" into her cheek after seeing a McCain-Palin bumper sticker on her car?
Well, it's a hoax.
Pittsburgh police say 20-year-old Ashley Todd, a College Station native, has confessed to making up the story and will be charged with making a false report to police, according to the Associated Press.
Todd initially said she was robbed and assaulted at knifepoint by a 6-foot-4 black man near an ATM in Pittsburgh. She said he told her he was going to teach her a lesson for supporting McCain, and that she was going to be a "Barack supporter."
Both the McCain and Obama campaigns had denounced the attack on Ms. Todd, and Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin both called Ms. Todd personally to offer their sympathy.
