Especially this part:

“PBS Kids Sprout has determined that the dialogue in this video is inappropriate for her role as a preschool program host and may undermine her character’s credibility with our audience,” said Sandy Wax, network president.

The audience is 2 - 5 year olds, neh?

So are people having conversations about virginity with their 2 - 5 year olds?

Sincerely,
ElSol

It would pass right over the heads of the 2-to-5's I know. If someone in that age bracket were to ask me what "virgin" meant, I'd define it, of course. I always take the questions of children seriously, and treat them with candor and respect, so I would have no hesitation in answering them, if they asked. ("It means someone who has never had sex," I'd tell 'em. If they had no further questions, I'd drop it.)

But really. I don't think the toddler audience of her show is going to be exposed to "Technical Virgin" programs. MSNBC is acting from sheer panic fear. The whole move makes no consecutive logical sense.

I think there's a misplaced word here.

I think audience was suppossed to be sponsors.

Sincerely,
ElSol

The whole thing is ridiculous, since those videos were just a spoof and something Martinez did before she ever worked for PBS Sprout and never intended for children. My interpretation of this situation is that PBS doesn't want anyone hosting a kids tv show for them who made an innappropriate video in the past.

Sure it does. All you have to do is consider who they mean by "audience." SPonsors will respond to controversy, and controversy is started by parents, in this case, ones who propably don't want to take the three hours to see what the show is all about when they can as simply get pissed at the network, and therefore move the sponsors, after spending the same 30 seconds reading the same article we just read.

See, perfect logic. ;)

Reminds me of back when Sesame Street wouldn't let The Red Hot Chili Peppers appear on the show because of Flea's violent past.
Cesar Rosas, of Los Lobos, said soemthing like; "Man, we just never got caught, that's why we got to do it"
They did a version of "kiko and The Lavender Moon" featuring Elmo.

The lesson is- don't get found out!
