I remember I Touch Myself by Divinyls. No subtlety there but it had a good melody.

I just finished the book, "I Heard You Paint Houses". It's the inside story of the mafia. The main character, Frank Sheeran said that he never masturbated. The church (Catholic) was against it and so was he.

Is this really a Catholic thing? I used to have a female friend who thought it was disgusting so she'd just hook up with various guys to get sex. She had one abortion and one child born out of wedlock.

My ex husband thought it was disgusting as well.

I remember this one time at school at the pool I had to walk past all these hot girls and even a few hot guys to get to the toilets. It came under "Impure Deeds" and we were fed a formidable barrage of 'anti' propaganda, all wrapped in religiosity. There were also "Impure Thoughts". The nuns were very big on "Impure".

Definitely a Catholic thing - that masturbation is a MORTAL sin! You were condemned to eternal Hell if you died after masturbating, but before confessing and repenting. I got "absolved" every week, on Saturday, so I could receive communion on Sunday. I never stopped masturbating until I got married at age 23 - didn't need to for about 20 years. Then she stopped wanting sex - so I started again. BUT, this time without guilt. I haven't been to church in almost 40 years.
