There were a few things that opened him up...
1) Lit reminded me how passionate I was about sex before we drifted into a rut and I was raped. Seeing me excited about sex and actually initiating it kind of inspired him.

2) We started talking about ideas and issues on Lit. Some of them were so far out, he felt very normal and comfortable in comparison. Like, "If people are doing x, y, and z, my desire to try anal and use toys isn't deviant at all."

3) I confirmed I was bi. He found it so daring and exciting that he felt better expressing some of his desires and trying new things. He said my courage inspired him to come out of his shell.

I honestly don't think any of that would have happened if I hadn't been completely honest and communicative about what I was doing on Lit. I've been asking about new things and his fantasies for six years, and he always claimed he had none. I never truly believed it, but had accepted it because sex has never been the focus of our relationship. Funny guy...I love him more than anything!

Yes I'm beginning to see that....that it's complex and individual.

Definitely agree that if a person feels good about themselves they will often be more interested in sex.
