Mariah Carey has an emotional breakdown....

life could be alot worse for them ... they should just considor that ... also they could just walk away from being famous at anytime ... they dont have to keep making money and records :)

Agree with everything you've said, Siren.

Not that I'm wishing ill tidings toward anyone, but my lips do curl up in a slight smirk when I hear about this.

What goes around comes around...

sorry if i dont feel sympathy for her poor nervous breakdown when i can barely pay my bills every month doing a job that is actually worthwhile

Um....

I don't care much for Mariah Carrey. I don't like her music, and her videos are silly, and she comes off as an A-class bubblehead in interviews.

But...

NO-ONE gets to where she is and stays there without working hard. I've been in show biddness my whole life, and there's a lot more to a two hour show than you realize. This chick's got a movie coming out, records to record, concerts to attend, interviews to do -- Oh yeah, it's a dream life, no doubt. But it does involve flying, creating, driving, talking, planning, organizing, performing. Give the girl some credit. It's HARD being a performer. I don't care how many agents and hairdressers you have in your entourage.

It's harder, too, trying to maintain a level of popularity. An actor frined of mine just lost his series, and is doing EVERY job that comes his way just to keep him alive in the studio's mind. It's exhausting work. He hustles every day, and this is a guy with a two million dollar house who's nationally known and has worked regularly and prominently in film, TV and on Broadway for 20 years. You think just because people applaud for him and he has a satellite dish on his house that he can just lay back and let the suits work for him? Noooooooo......

He's in danger of losing that house every six months. So what if some waitress works just as hard for less money? Does that make his "Work" less valuable, or full of effort?

In this biddness we call "show" you're only remembered for what you did half an hour ago. If Mariah has collapsed from exhaustion and mental anguish after trying to keep it all together, I buy it. I hate her art, but I absolutely buy it.

I think many of us feel like, if she doesn't like the life, she has enough money that she can opt out and live like a queen.....many people here do not have that option..if we are stressed, we just have to plug on...if we get depressed, we still have to show up at work or we lose it all...I imagine it's hard work, but she still has options...

Well said rambling

:p

No, no, no that's not how the business works. Show business is the stupidest godammned business in the world. In the case of my friend he has enough money to live on for years, but when you're income goes from 20,000 a week to nothing you DO get scared and think about your finances. And that's what we're talking about here. That's how LA works. You live from killing to killing. And it's very easy to say "save" but you're not taking into accoutnt he expenses incurred in keeping a career alive. When you lose a TV series you still have managers and taxes to pay. You might have a bundle saved, but it GOES very fast.

Trust me on this, not every LA actor is as rich as you think he is, or in as gravy a position as you think. They're just people in a business, like you, except their paycheck doesn't come in every week.

I lived on commercial residuals for a while and saved a ton of money. I ws responsible. Then I didn't get a substantial acting job for a year, and the money went away. And I STILL had to continue paying for headshots and showcases. Don't think that can't happen to someone famous? It can. It does. Every day.

By the way, Siren, I JUST found out that I can receive private messages, and saw that you once tired to send me one. Sorry, I had no idea it was there.
