I received this in an email today. Thought I would share.

Made oatmeal cookies to share too.

Why some are remembered by history

During the darkness of the war, there was word
received that there was a great battle, and our troups
were victorious! 800 or our troups killed, to 2700 of
theirs.

At a party, a very proud woman congratulated the
President on the great victory.

The President, his shoulders bent in exhaustion, said,
"yes, but at such a terrible cost of lives. 3500
young men dead."

The woman said, "But Mr. President, only 800 of them
were our soldiers, and we killed 2700 of theirs!"

Looking more haggard than ever, President Lincoln
replied: "Madam, the world is much larger than your
heart".

eating oatmeal cookies with a lump in your throat doesn't feel good. :(

Thanks, pet.

Good post Pet.

Now where's Curious George?...I figured he would be in here.

You're welcome GP and Celia

He was a wise man

Truly human and compassionate

Very nice words. I would have guessed it was Lincoln if you hadn't said.

God I'm starved. I could use about a half dozen of those cookies. Why a half dozen? Well, I was known as " _ _ cookie eater" when I was a kid. That hasn't changed.

I suspect most decent leaders think that way.

Lincoln was a good leader. I'll bet his beard had some red in it.

His hat could have used horns though.

His horns were undercover
