Making a Murderer

There just a lot more I want to know -- particularly in the case of brenden Avery. What are the mother's and detectives' claims as to each questioning? When was consent given and when was it not? Is there a guardian ad litem system that should've been used? If the mother was conflicted from being present during questioning, shouldn't she have also been conflicted out of the decision to let her son be questioned?

On a more human note, watching brenden's lawyer and his lawyer's investigator...and their interaction with brenden...it's been a long time since I've felt what they made me feel.

I fell so bad for this kid! Everything brendan did was completely normal for a learning disabled person. It broke my heart every time he said "i don't know." He can't tell you his reasoning. Everything about his demeanor and the interviews were consistent with his innocence. The only consistent thing he said the entire time was that he didn't do it. He just played playstation and hung out at the house until he went to a bonfire then went to bed. Yet, that consistent story was ignored. What i don't think people understand is that most LD kids are labeled bad at some point because they can't participate in normal classroom behavior and work. Most are used to apologizing, afraid of being in trouble, and try very hard to gain approval. Most of the time, they have no idea whats going on, but they are trained to follow cues and are VERY suggestible.

I get it. I don't recommend binge watching it. Watch the first episode and go from there. It grabs you and holds your attention.

So I watched it, and not just because I want to flirt with Clowns.

And I totally binged, against all recommendations. I was up till 5 am last night -- watched all 10 in a row.

I'm reeling this morning.

I was confused just after watching it and I am even more confused reading all the updates as of late. The one thing I believe is that Brendan was coerced from the beginning. I don't think he should be in jail and at the very least be granted a retrial.

As for Steve Avery I'm just completely unsure. It's a crazy case for sure.

I am trying to remember if the warrant to search the property was based on the confession. If so, and that confession gets thrown out, you take away the crux of the State's case. I agree that the confession definitely should be thrown out. I also believe that by the standard of reasonable doubt, Avery should be free. After working in the courts for several years, I no longer think guilt/innocence.

The Jinx - The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst is another fantastic documentary.
