Hey guys. One of my friends wants a video of her turned into a small .gif file, under 2000kb.

i thought it would be something i could easily do in iMovie but its not--anyone know how to do this/feel like doing it for me? feel free to PM me.

i'll send you the .mov, and you send me back the .gif??

it would be a big favor to me!

thanks!

Depending on how long it is, you might not be able to do it. Most conversion requires you to upload static images and then it'll convert it into a .gif.
This and this discusses it at length. A YouTube vid

Otherwise, you can try a gif converter:

Have fun :)

while I have not played with iMovie - cut and crop - cut and delete as much as possible - crop to the action area - reduce frame rate as much as possible - then a little more - then reduce the dimensions of the vid to as small as possible - then output to gif. You can only have max 256 colours with a gif so you are going to lose a lot of quality - try reducing the amount of colours below the 256 - again as much as possible.

A 2mb file will only give you a few seconds at best and of small dimensions

every pixel adds to the file size - a gif is just a string of individual pictures - the higher the frame rate - more pixels - the larger the dimensions - more pixels - more colours used - bigger the file size.
