Loving Wives Curse

Two years ago, I went to each category's page and averaged those 25 latest story rating.

The difference in rating between LW and other categories is that the average for those LW stories and the other categories was 0.8 to 1.0 lower. Now that difference may change from day to day, depending on the story quality changes and who is published each day. But it gives us a snapshot using that average.
Yep. In the graph that I posted above,
  • the median all-time LW score was 4.06
  • the median 2024 LW score was 3.75 (more affected by 1-bombs that hadn't been cleaned up, and possibly a real decline in scores)
  • the median all-time All Stories score was 4.41
  • the median 2024 All Stories score was 4.5
The differences are real. That doesn't mean that every second non-LW story deserves a 'hot' rating, of course, and to some extent we have to congratulate LW voters for being more realistic critics. There is room for genuine criticism as well as arseholery.

Yeah!

I don't consider LW readers assholes for their negative reactions.

I think that they are a very REAL audience of a general selection of people who think differently due to their own real-life traumas! Some may have experienced a cheating spouse, and they're looking for stories of retribution on cheating spouses! Where else in the LitE categories would they look but Loving Wives?!

So, I play with their opinions and possibly show them different reasons for what they experienced. Of course, when someone HAS been through such a trauma as a failed marriage, they are unlikely to change. I just don't take their 1-bombing or shitty comments personally.

I've been cheated on and fucked over in relationships, but I don't act like a petulent, vindictive retard over the follies of fictional people and those who create them. That's my opinion. Oh they have trauma... the mind is a curious thing, but I don't think screaming at ones screen, and seething at the writer is any kinda coping. If you're coming here to get pissed off instead of getting off—intentionally; you're doing it wrong. Anybody who intentionally seeks out things to piss themselves off, or trigger themselves[with no intention to face it and defeat it like a fear], have some sort of mental defecit.

My first ever LW story went live earlier today (part of Geek Pride). As the community here had warned, my score is about 1/2 point lower than my average and this is easily my lowest rated story (4.18 at the moment). But ithis story already has the most votes I have gotten on any story, surpassing my first romance posted earlier this week. And it is second in favorites and second in total comments (again just behind the romance).

But for all my fear of being ripped apart. Some of you have even mentioned threats, the comments are universally positive. My favorite is

"Original and beautifully written. If there is a such thing as a gentle yet devastating BTB, this is it."

I actually call this one a PTB. (Story is The Throne)

You got a 4+ rating because you wrote a good story. Your MC was well done. A slightly autistic nerd (or on the spectrum) who has a bit of difficulty initially responding to a slap in the face. He falls in love with a woman who not only cheats but deliberately tries to destroy him. Conning him out of his money and even future earnings (even if that is probably not legal). She fully admits to targeting him and to having done it before. He finds a unique way to get rid of the problem. It was a well crafted and enjoyable read where you cheer for the guy in the end.

Yes indeed. Imagine being a trauma doctor, or a lawyer, a prison guard or a social worker, dealing with people who have been hurt and are lashing out at around them. Imagine doing that as a job (forget about the salaries) or as a volunteer, and not having the option to just walk away or hit back. We're just amateurs playing with fantasies, having fun. Of course, it's easier to say than do, and some people really are arseholes....

The Throne was a very good story. As I commented, in the beginning I thought it was just going to be the template cuck story, but you turned it into an excellent, if supernatural burn of the abusive, cheating bitch. I actually do read all the lame cuck stories just find a gem like this where the MC refuses to be a cuck. Please post more LW stories.

'Cheating bitch" Thank you for continuing to prove my point about LW readership to everyone who can handle fiction and not crippled by CMI.

Providing I'm around, I have an interesting experiment regarding an LW Halloween story. Its a false cheating accusation leading to some dipshit murdering his wife, then the karma he receives for killing her.

I'm waiting to see if the moralists will favor the story because the woman was faithful and the guy a piece of work, or if it'll get blasted anyway because there's no evil bitch in it. The hypocrisy test will be entertaining.

I was surprised to see I have more hot wife/cuck stories than I thought in the market. Funny how they do well there and don't get trashed like they do here in free anon land.

Surely it would be a writer’s dream if thousands of people kept buying your work so that they could tell you that they don’t like it. :)

Sorry to hear that not being around sounds like a distinct possibility.

Ahh, stop knocking the anon trashing comments.

They either inspire me to tone down some aspect of the story that they HATED in the next one I write. Or they inspire me to magnify it to see if I can make their heads explode!

They have their value.

Is "Loving Wives" not about people who adore their partner? Because that's what I thought it was about. Where do you go for romantic short stories then?

Romantic stories are popular. You can find them in most categories, but not often in LW.

What is Loving Wives about? Like, from this, I assume it's about "cheating on your partner" but is it "Loving Wives" as in "Loving (other people's) Wives"?

These category names do not feel intuitive if that's the case.

Volumes have been written about Loving Wives. The name is pretty ironic.

Most stories fall into two categories: cuckold (or hot wife) stories, and cheating wife stories. The readers of the stories are divided into two camps, and each hates the stories that the other likes. Recently I think some of the authors of cuckold or hot wife stories have been putting their work in Fetish. They get a smaller but friendlier crowd that way.

As long as everyone is aware of the irony, that's what matters.

I feel like I'd rather get a smaller but friendlier crowd than a bigger but more potentially aggressive one, but that's me.

There are short stories of "loving Wives" in that category.

Try reading this: "He Missed You – (750 Word Project)"

It's very short.

EDIT: The one thing to remember when looking for stories in Loving Wives is that the average rating is meaningless!!! The counterbalance of the two opposing forces there (sharing-positive versus monogamous-only) makes the ratings wildly off balance.

Thanks, I'll be sure to check that out!

LOLOLOL always a helpful thing to happen in any category

Loving Wives the category well known for featuring hot steamy affairs to suspense filled BTB stories. But there is this one thing that makes this category stand out.

And that is its comments, every story featuring a cheating wife gets destroyed in the comments, from hating on the author to the wife in the story, no one escapes the curse.

As a dude I'll say it's because of underlying fear of getting cheated on, sometimes victims of cheating gets triggered and one more thing is that this word called cold male insecurity (don't what it clearly means), I think it plays an important role?

But in the end people hates cheating wives.......... and husbands.

Anything to add?
I wonder what would happen if it featured two or three of them.
