So...

What went well for you this week? 🌿
Work has gone well for me this week. I went into Monday thinking I was swamped with things that had to be done, and it was almost overwhelming. But then I had two days that I was by myself in the office and found that without the normal interruptions, I was able to clear most of that tasks I faced. I don't know if I was more relieved I got so much done, or more proud of myself for attacking the work and coming out as the winner!

So I read an article that talks about a "psychological trick" - here's an extract:

The question you ask determines what it finds.

It’s so true - and this is replicable across other parts of life too - I can think of more personal examples where it’s really helped with your outlook on life (with relationships, grieving, your own skills and talents). I totally believe that you can rewire yourself to be a calmer, more positive person to yourself.

And as for what went well this week, I’ve conquered come very, very complicated tech-y things I’ve been studying, which is a wonderful feeling! Hopefully some very positive things happening for you this week, too?

👍🏻

That's awesome!
Is this for work or are you still a student?

Thanks for asking.
For one, I (finally) caught up with a friend who I've not seen since Dec 2024, our meet was postponed since 3 weeks ago as she was not feeling well.
We had mini hotpot for lunch, yummy! 😆
[couldn't upload a pic due to size. 😖]

Aw, boo! Hotpot pictures in due course, I hope! That’s very sweet though, I’ve got friends that I don’t see for ages and then we just instantly fall back into familiarity, hopefully felt a lot like that for you too!

And I’m taking quite a big course over and above work, so it’s a bit of a crazy time sometimes when it all gets a bit much :D But definitely helps when I finally start understanding the stuff I’m learning, haha

Haha if you give me hints how to reduce the size of a pic.

It was nice to see her again.
In the next few weeks, there's plans to catch up with a college classmate, I've not seen him since back then! It's been social media and digital messages over different countries so far, so am looking forward to that.

Good for you!

I'm still wondering why someone "follows" if it doesn't send alerts to the followee... so, what's the purpose of being a follower?

Maybe because it makes them feel important with the more people they follow? I know people can highlight a name like this - @asian2015 and supposedly it sends a message to that person that somebody mentioned them in a thread. Seems like every time they do an update, we lose more stuff we can do. Remember when we could make a poll on our posts? That's long gone.

Some follow others hoping they will get followed back. Others hope following someone will them noticed by said person. Just my humble opinion.
☝🏻 These are the 2 reasons so far ie either:
- some popularity statistics
or
- those too lazy to actually contact someone so they just click

yup, this @mention is different, this is when you want to specifically direct a message (or bring attention) to them.

Haha yeah. I don't receive email notifications of new messages/alerts anymore.

I also know that on the very top right of each forum page, you can click on "Watch" and it notifies you if the thread has been updated. The one I have as watched is one of the quietest threads on the site, however, so messages are rare.

Here's an update about this random following:
In Settings, you can determine who sees your "newsfeed" - that's the little lightening bolt up at the top.
If someone follows you, they can check to see the posts of everyone they follow.

However, you can go to your Settings/Privacy and determine if they see you or not.
Mine is set so that the only person I follow can see my posts in the newsfeed [and he's not active in the forums.] 😆

Same back to you as well! I've been struggling with allergy-induced head pressure that seems to be abating. However a very hot and windy day today is not helping.
Urgh I hope this finds you feeling better now.
Over here it's been extra hot, it's a heatwave that is supposed to continue until mid-year. 😳😖 Thank goodness for AC, though that means a huge energy bill.
Oh, and that doesn't help with my headache. 😑

I've resisted turning my AC on because we're on a big roller coaster of high and low temps. Supposed to be 40F cooler tomorrow.

I'm able to write tonight without too much difficult, so it's getting better.
