As a segue to the, "Are You A Slut" thread, I was asking if we could invent our own name for a woman who enjoys sex freely and openly. I thought it would be interesting if the people here in AH could come up with one and after using it in stories we write and people we talk to outside in RL, if it became a normal word and maybe make it into a dictionary. Slut, Whore, Skank, and others like it are too derogatory and demeaning. I'm hoping we can find one that the women will enjoy using when describing themselves. This is a literary thread with the possibilty of a social impact.
Men are dogs and we know it. We'll hump and rut on sight, so it doesn't have to apply to us.

How about - woman?

Remember the song "bird dog--" How about "dog bird"? :D

In the eighties, "freak" was common, and it got used for men and women.

Some of the very few terms for men relate to other men who are known for promiscuity, like "Don Juan."

What about "Aphrodite" or "Venus"?

From thesaurus.com:

harlot, tramp, hussy, bimbo, floozy, jade, jezebel, malkin, minx, quean, slattern, tramp, wench

Beyond those, I can't think of anything and I can't really see a woman using any of those terms to describe herself, unless she was purposely looking to get laid.

I think I heard a comedy routine by Jeff Foxworthy once where he said something like: "men only want beer and to see something naked, even when they're 90"

Sexually Liberated?

I don't know. I basically think of any woman who doesn't freely and openly enjoy sex as repressed, so a woman who does is just a woman. (meaning, I agree with Sarah, lol)

Sure, but it's already in the dictionary and it doesn't say anything about your sexual nature. If you wanted to describe yourself in one word sexually, what might it be?

Lance, women are sexual beings, same as men. We like sex. That's normal.

To try to come up with a word describing a normal woman as different because she likes sex is rather insulting, you know?

Silly man.

I describe my sexual nature as "Queer." by which I mean that my sexual desires are not considered normal heterosexual ones.

I think what you are looking for is a word that will serve yourself; a word that describes "a woman who will fuck me with a minimum of my effort."

It's infuriating that there is no word for her that isn't derogatory... So, yeah.

Okay, let's make it a unisex word then to describe both men and women. I just believe slut and other words like it are demeaning in character. It's just a word to describe a person who enjoys sex, a lot, lol

Um. Horny?

Hmmm...doesn't it seem they misdefined the word 'sexist'?

Since 'sadist' and 'masochist' point to directly to what they are/do. How about a 'sexuelle' for a female sensualist/nymphomaniac, and a 'copulist' for either a male or female nymphomaniac. What does everyone think about those two terms? They are original, I believe, and you don't need an explanation to accompany their use for people to get the gyst of the meaning--
And please take note: an intelligent woman has better self control than a slut, who has none; I, for one, am very good at math--lol--and get tired of having to explain to the general crowd that "a slut is someone that has sex 1 time with 1000 people, but a nymphomaniac will have sex 1000 times with one person". I am a multiple of that latter number, but the algebraic equation for my sexlife is still sound for the intelligent woman that I am, and maintain the discipline to be.;)

There's a book out there entitled The Ethical Slut. I haven't gotten around to reading it but from what others have told me, it describes someone rather like what we're talking about. Could that be the term you're looking for? I know that Carol Queen has used the term 'slutty' to refer to both men and women . . .

I like this. Beautifully described.

There's alot of slut-slang out there...

But I think what Lance was getting at is inventing an original lexicon--literary immortality and all of that. As writers, we love having this mad scientist lab in our heads for words, sounds and phrases--as well as revolutionary concepts. Language is powerful--as are names. To give a new name to something is to share in its power or transfer it. Very heady stuff. I made mine up on the spot when I saw his post--and found they do not appear on searches. I like "sexuelle" because it's musical quality lends itself to poetry, and it's French sound lends itself universally to erotica/porn. Copulist is a very direct label--one that I always wished I had in conversations using words like 'sadist', as I said before. But I think Lance is really on to something--I think we could come together as Forum and put together an untapped lexicon. After it takes-off among the public, a Literos Balderdash thread would be fun, too, I think.
