A US soldier has been badly hurt in a shooting incident in Germany, police say.

The 26-year-old was shot after pulling off the road to clear ice from his car windscreen.

The attack happened at 0530 local time (0430GMT) on Monday near the soldier's barracks in Schweinfurt in southern Germany, 100 kilometres (60 miles) east of Frankfurt.

The soldier's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. He was hit several times in the hand and leg.


Police say he was able to hide in the car before driving himself to safety.

He was taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery.

No proof...yet, that it was anything but rabdom...but I do not think it was a kiwinki-dink, the car he was driving in had military plates on it.
