Today I finally got to do something I put aside while I was in a relationship. I spent the day working costumes for the theatre...so much fun! My lifelong bestie and her kids are involved so it was a day of strengthening old bonds, and reviving old hobbies lived.

Today I had some stuff to do that was just obligatory. I'm insanely busy. Monday through Thursday I am away from home from 6:45am until at least 9:30pm. So, I don't have a lot of free time. Sooooo, Saturdays are often spent doing things I don't want to do, sadly.

Spent today in self-indulgence... Lit, papers, a film, red wine... It doesn't always work out that way, but today it did... Been a bit full-on of late, so it was nice to relax.

I also did some housework so tomorrow's visitors don't know quite how dusty my house usually is...

However. Next weekend is family obligations, but I'll join in enthusiastically, because marking people's life milestones with them is important in lots of ways...

I tend to be on the receiving end when things don't go as planned. Far too often, other people have felt that they had the right to unleash emotions on me if a plan changes. I've gotten pretty good at letting them vent while making my decisions more patiently. I don't agree with "whatever will be, will be" in the passive sense; but I do believe that I can make it through anything. Very seldom will a failed plan cost me anything of significance. I also tend to plan for the parts of the plan that are likely to fail.. because I'm a planner ::wiggly eyebrows::

Depends really on what the plan is. I had to leave my New Orleans adventure slightly early which sucked. But I just kind of accepted it. If it's something completely out of my hands then generally I can roll with it.

At work I have backup plan after backup plan - in my game things can quickly escalate out of control, so it's good to think about what you'd do in various disaster scenarios. Sometimes even thinking about it makes you realise your main plan is actually flawed, and that can be a good thing.

Outside of work, though, I am much more disorganised and a 'go with the flow' type. Maybe that's as a reaction to the above, but I think it makes for a more relaxed life - if you can roll with it when plans go awry and just see what happens, it's far less stressful.

When things don't go my way, like sleep for instance. Always lacking, never close to enough. I've found that even if I try to fight the sneaky bastard, I always loose. Seems to be an uphill battle with this sleep depriving demon camped out on my shoulder. I've analyzed foods, habits, caffeine and alcohol intake, exercise and all that jazz. Nada. I've tried meditating before bed to put me in the utmost blissful state. No go. Not even wild, marathon, blow my mind away sex doesn't do it. I've tried sleeping pills, which work but makes my dreams elusive fuck and I'm in a groggy haze during the morning for hours. Not a good thing for my creativity.
I'm not a worry wart, I don't have a never ending list of to-dos or regrets.
I wonder if it's genetic, or can I blame it solely on environment, I'm still deciding.

I haven't tried smoking a fat J before bed or getting a deep tissue massage. One of these might indeed work. Or both, that might be something spectacular. Oh my!
So for now I just roll with it. It's not something new, been around for a long time. I'm okay with it. Maybe not okay, but I roll with the punches.

I'm very much a go with the flow kind of girl. Which is somewhat counter-intuitive with how I need to be for my job, but I actually think it helps in that I don't get too bent out of shape when things don't go according to plan.

I also don't spend much time analyzing what happened in the past. I like to think I learn from my mistakes, but I don't dwell on them.

And writing my answer reinforces that I have the emotional intellect of a 3rd grader.
