Good morning happy Litiquette-izans!

Most of us, according to the poll, know what's it like to experience that first time of playing on line. But what made you do it? Was it the yearning for someone that was so strong, you just needed it? Were you taken some smooth talking person that convinced you it was what you wanted? Or were you the aggressor, wanting what you want, and leaving no stone uncovered to get what you wanted?

Why did you play that very first time?

Like ruby my first time cybering ever was totally different that my first time playing on Lit. I won't delve much into my early experiences, but we'll just say I was young and curious; it was easy to find quick ways to sate my curiosity.

Moving to more 'adult' exploring, I've never been the aggressor. That's not my style. Any time I've played on Lit, it's because I've established an it was a natural transition for us. I'm not a 'wham bam thank you ma'am' player. I need to have a relationship built before moving into play and I will only play if it feels natural.

It was a natural progression. And damn if it wasn't great. We still talk, usually by text these days. And occasionally it goes back to that sexy feel between us. Usually it's easy affection of good friends.

Why did you play that very first time?

The first time was a bit by accident. I was a close friend of Thomas Watson, an assistant of Alexander Graham Bell. I was in the parlor drawing tea with Tom when both he and I overheard in a deep, lustful voice on what would become the telephone, "Mr. Watson, come here ... I want to SEE you." Astonished, both Mr. Watson and I walked in to discover Mr. Bell, who was not wearing any pants ... and phone sex was born. True story.

My first time online, however, was in college. I had made a few friends via groups, rooms or whatever AOL used. She was 10 years my senior (cues Mrs. Robinson music) and we had chemistry, a click, enjoyed chatting quite a bit, intellectually stimulating one another, chatting became flirting, flirting became more risque and she popped my virtual cherry. We played because it felt like the natural extension of the relationship we shared. It migrated to phone calls later on and we even talked about meeting in person. We have kept in contact since, meeting once (non-sexually) a few years ago.

I agree with this. Well said. If you're going to share your body, virtually or physically, you have to trust the person with whom you're sharing. Even if it's only physical, you still have to trust that they won't make you feel like less of a person for sharing yourself.

Just popping in for another quick chime in on the trust. This ^ is also an issue for those wanting to satisfy sexual proclivities that might not be socially acceptable or they might not be entirely comfortable with in real life. Attraction is definitely important, but trust in discretion, honesty, and assurance of being treated with respect and consideration have to top the list.

Like a few on here, my first time was on the AOL chat boards. I was in highschool, a freshman I believe, and still horribly afraid of real-life girls. But somehow online it was easier. AOL had chatrooms meant for teens, and as you can imagine they were not much more than pickup rooms. I never had a real relationship in those rooms, just one time cyber-sex encounters.

Fast forward to college, my first online 'relationship' was with a girl from a different school I met at a chat site (hotelchat dot com) and we'd hook up online regularly. Never met in person. I enjoyed the relationship plus cyber-sex aspect much more than the random online hookups.

My first time was a combination of need and some smooth talking that I might not have fallen for otherwise. No regrets though :)

I like Lexie's comment about it feeling natural - I think that is an important aspect of it, when the level of erotic attraction arises, it feels natural and like you're communicating with a real person - not someone typing from rote. Sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not. Natural is the way to go.

my first time skewed my view. It was a unique and wonderful experience in that I got to meet, connect, and open up to someone. However, it left a bad taste in my mouth for such things. It took a while for me to open up ( think weeks), and after the showstopper, though, he disappeared. It's difficult for me to open up anyway. That bit of tom foolery snapped me back to attention.

So, while it's probably a more *meaningful* experience when you connect with someone, it's infinitely less traumatic to just flirt and have at it if the mood strikes. At least that way, when the door hits you the way out, it doesn't hurt as much.

So much truth to what you say. With so many of the "meaningful" experiences just turning out to be nothing, I think you may have the best attitude. Enjoy when it feels right and be happy when you have a good time.

I'd agree - when it comes to online, hold lightly. People simply vanish.
Sometimes they vanish, come back, and vanish again...

Hold lightly is good advice.

If they truly cared, they would say goodbye and not leave you wondering what happened.
You have to be prepared to let go. Sometimes that's easier said than done.

These last few posts certainly expose the sober side of online play. Rather valid points I suspect….

I agree with this. My first time was a bit icky: there was a guy here who start hitting on me so I was quite flattered, then that turned to a full seduction. He claimed he'd come ( whatever  ) but I couldn't decide if I should laugh or barf. I felt like I needed to wash afterwards, but it's not something I give much thought now.

It was fun for me, though. :D

That 'I need a shower NOW" feeling. Ugh.

I get that feeling once in awhile. Especially when I see someone I've talked to before acting like a tool to someone else. It makes me feel gross. Like wtf was I thinking?

On the upside though, I had another cyber with someone I was totally hot for and it has been the source of numerous self-help sessions! Hell, it even spawned a Lit story!
...
...
oh hell, why not a bit of self-promotion? :D
