I just read 2 posts by different people about marriages they felt "trapped" in. The way they described the marriages was, frankly, heartbreaking.

I know that many (most?) of us on here aren't fully happy in our relationships, so my wish for my fellow Litsters is for the courage to make positive changes in their lives, whatever those changes may be. I realize there are 100s of different situations and circumstances for people here, and that there are a near-infinite number of reasons people stay in unhealthy relationships, but I refuse to believe that we are incapable to effect changes to at least make life a bit more bearable. Life's short. Let's try to make the best of it.

That's my heavy Saturday morning response. And I have a lovely beach day planned with my daughter today - a perfect Saturday indeed. :)

Wow Sam, your words went straight to my heart. I am grappling with making decisions about my marriage now. Trying to make positive changes in myself, be more accountable for my own happiness. I guess I have a similar wish, and so thought I would answer your post. Many here feel trapped in relationships, so for what it' s worth, maybe it helps to read that they are not alone.

Agreed, i see this here and in rl, I do wish it easier for those in the situation.
My saturday was filled by walking around this little community I live in, it was festival day, lots of things going on. Exhibits, horse n buggy rides, street dance, dinner with good friends. :rose:

A peaceful a Sunday morning. Quite possibly my most favorite time of the week. And quite possibly my favorite time for morning sex. Not that there's anything wrong with sex at any other time :) it's also nice to hang in Lit and take the pulse of the place. Do you get the sense that there's a general overall "mood" at Lit on any given day or does each thread define it's own culture and mood?

Time for a Friday night topic. We all have a Lit addiction, you can try and deny it if you want but we love our time here. What about this place is so addicting? I don't think it's necessarily the people, as people do come and go (clearly they have a stronger hold on their addiction), I don't think it's the sex, as sex sites are fairly common. What I think it is, is Lit provides us the freedom to be what we really want to be. Without judgement or expectations. Am I right or are there other reasons...

Sex sites are ten a penny and wherever I've found expressions of sexuality, I've encountered judgement. Lit is no different.

I prefer Lit for two reasons. The first reason is we are a fairly cosmopolitan bunch. I find it makes for more interesting conversation. The second reason is that active Litsters seem to be more literate than the denizens of your average sex site. I speculate that it's because so many of us came to the forums after reading the stories for however long. Maybe people who don't read, simply don't last long enough on the main site to discover the forums. I have no problem with that, since poor spelling and grammar make me grind my teeth.

I've made some great friends here. The good company keeps me coming back. :)

I think the mood at lit is reflective of one's own mood.

I find that there is often a general mood on Lit. I think it is small enough and people travel back and forth between threads enough that general moods develop, for better or for worse. Get a couple of posters in a pissy mood and they're hitting multiple threads and spreading it around. Same holds true for a good mood though, a couple of prolific posters laughing and dancing and flirting their way through the different threads and they can bring everything up.

However, I would also say that Brad's point carries a lot of truth as well - we each carry into Lit fragments of the moods we've carried through the day. I think Lit, and a lot of forums, are extended feedback loops, which you'll also see in social circles IRL. You may go to a BBQ or a dinner party or a casual get together with friends and if two or three people are vocal in expressing their mood - good or bad - it carries.

Generally, when I am in a bad mood I don't come online, or if I do, I only stay a short while. I tend to use exercise and music to turn my mood around, so on a bad day, some quality time running with the iPod can usually pull me out of it.

My wish for fellow Litsters as that they may find happiness in whatever capacity they can. Also, I wish that Litsters who make a connection with someone would make it strong and deep and truly appreciate that connection. It could be friendship or something more, but don't take it for granted.

:)

Time spent here even better................Hmmmmmmmm. I wish the good ones would post more and the ones that rub people wrong would get bored and leave.

For my fellow Listers...

For some of you, I wish happy sexy time.

For some of you, I wish fun playtime on lit.

For some of you (a small percentage), I wish herpes and the clap.

I only look at a few threads when I come on Lit, so I can't comment on the overall mood. But sometimes there is a heavy feeling on certain threads. And it's quite obvious, at times.

You lost me at "morning sex".

I've never really noticed moods, probably because I just don't pay enough attention. Unless one or two posters have gone crazy and gone on some psycho posting rampage. I notice that and enjoy it when it happens. :D

I've noticed moods change the later it gets. I don't know if it's drinking time or what, but with the time differences it is noticeable to me.

Monday around lunchtime here now.

I think my own mood influences the mood I pick up here, like when I was pregnant I saw millions of pregnant women everywhere.

But there are threads which are almost always up-lifting (the mood, you ... And yes, there are other up-lifting threads too). There are threads where posting culture is very pleasant (like here, Chained ) and there are some where things run wild. Where people don't feel obliged at all to stay on-topic.

Dutchrain's comment of "lunchtime" has brought to mind the topic of time zones. The great thing about Lit is that it is indeed a global place, people from nearly every part of the globe are here. But with that also come challenges. Inevitably you will connect with someone from a time zone not exactly compatible with your own. How best to manage this? Some choose to not get involved with anyone too far out of their time zone. Others change sleeping habits to try and be more available. What's your trick for managing this when it arises?

I believe if there was a contest for shittiest time zone differential, Rainshine and I would win. Our time zone difference ranges from 14-16 hours, depending on the season. Right now is our best time, as it's only 14 hours difference.

Sometimes sleep suffers. Sometimes things need to be moved around. Sometimes work is skipped. But, no matter how tired I am, it's always worth it.

I can't tell if you're serious or not.

Let the record reflect, it is I who sleeps an average of 4.5 hours a night for the last 2.5 years. Pmann still gets his much needed 12 hours of sleep, and one hour of shoe shining a day. :D

When I'm awake at 6, it's 3 in the morning at his house. When he's waking up, I'm already at work. When he gets off work at 6, it's 9 at night here. I get it.. but I don't know how you function on no sleep! I have to say, "I'm tired, babe.. night"

2.5 years?!?! You don't even know how long we've been talking. *squints*

But I will say this... Sleep has taken back seat for time spent. With such a huge differential, it's very tough to get time together. For Rainshine, it's my mornings at work and her late nights. I feel like it's really difficult for me to give up working hard every morning. But somehow, I manage. :) But she gives up a lot of sleep just to chat and spend time with me.

I once spent $800 in one day just to get time with her. (Not in person) I believe she would probably have similar stories.

Don't listen to this rubbish, Rainshine!!! She's speaking witchcraft and all things evil!!!! "I'm tired"- those are the words of Satan herself!!! I cast thee out!!!!

Time is an illusion. Rust Cohle taught us that on True Detective.

It is hard, really hard. :( I basically have zero self-discipline about it, and I'm greedy.

so.. the other day, I'm looking at tshirt with my son and found one that read:

I'm trying to give up sexual innuendo, but it's hard… so hard

lol.. now every time I see that phrase...

That's hilarious! I would break my no new t-shirts rule for that one.

lol, I don't think you have a corner on the "shittiest time differential" market, believe me! I just thank god I'm off for the summer...at least I can sleep during the day here!

Well what's your time differential!?!?
