Do you certain threads that you check out first when you get on lit? What happens if no one has posted on them? Do you troll? Log off and come back later? Try to get something started on them?

I check out my subscribed list first. Read the handful of threads that interest me. If there's no action, I check out the first page of a couple forums. I don't try to get a thread started again. I doubt I could. I'll occasionally blurt something instead of finding a dog to kick. The neighbor frowns when I do that.

Sorry, should have answered my own question.... I also check out my subscribed threads and see what has been going on. I then usually stick to the first page and if I see a thread name that seems interesting I will check it out. I have posted on a few random threads but nothing that I felt I needed to keep check on them by subscribing. I will also randomly look at a thread if I see a name I recognise on it, but don't always post there either. My posting actually depends a lot on my mood, I know that is such a girly thing, LOL.

Check out subscribed threads first, then new posts, after that it depends on my mood and who may or may not be posting.

If I don't feel that I have anything worthwhile to add, then I may just log out at that point. Alternatively, I may wander further and seek to contribute in other sections of the forum -- even the GB (I posted there once but I think I got away with it ).

Pretty much the same here.
I don't really post often enough to form 'friendships' with many of those who post more frequently than I, so I always feel like I'm a stranger walking into the local pub....ya know, the room goes silent til the newcomer leaves

I kind of feel the same on some threads, that my post will stick out and be 'frowned' upon..which is a little silly of me to be honest.

The best way is to through yourself in, post away while you're online, and don't worry too much.

I have a few people that I regularly chat to, but I always like to meet new people too and explore etc..

Like the aboves, I'll check the Subs then look for new posts in the main headers: there are lots of repeat posts that bore the hell out of me "Ooo yes, I love that too soooo sexxy kiss kiss" but just occasionally someone posts a good question in LGBT or Fetish that has me rolling my sleeves up for a good old discussion: those always cheer me up

Kind of embarrassing to say it "out loud" but I am quite curvy and um... always slippery when even slightly turned on so it seemed appropriate.

Yes -- I dimly recall that all of those thoughts were in my head when I was toying with words to incorporate into my Lit name.

Another factor at the time was that I was learning to give Indian Head Massage, and the favourite aspect for the ladies that I practised on was my scalp massage delivered with firm but soothing fingers.

That's exactly why I'm in two minds about the name. I wasn't intending it to sound pervy, except perhaps in a light-hearted way. As you say, there may be an unwanted nuance to it for some people -- but I couldn't identify a better verb to select at the time.

My immediate interpretation when I first read your name was a girl who resembles a stick-figure (rather like in a Lowry painting), whether in actuality or metaphorically. The alternative tacky/gooey meaning didn't occur to me until later. My guess from your comment is that many people's thinking operates the other way round.

It's a bit like that joke, isn't it? What's brown and sticky? A stick.

Mine is a name I stole from some Nigerian scammer. He was trying to scam me for my money and his last name was Polmann. I just found that name funny, so I adopted a shorter version of it. Plus, it's easy to say, "Yo pmann, you're a stand up fella'!" Or something like that.
