If I had to use a phone, I'd be much less fussy about my typing too, but I'm so inept with phones, that I stick to desktops :D.

In real life I adore punctuation. However, I type on a phone and have given up trying to be perfect in that department. If I can read a post without straining to get through poor grammar....txt lingo etc....I'm good to go.

I used to get all crazy about spelling and such, but since using my tablet I know exactly what you mean and I no longer care as long as I can understand what you are trying to say! :D

Just for the record, I never contradict myself......only sometimes.

:D

As for punctuation I'm with a lot of others. As long as it can be read I'm not really fussed. These days you know that a lot of people are using Tablets, phones and other devices to post that make it hard to always be correct and have the correct punctuation. So cut them some slack I say. As for emotes being used as punctuation I must admit I do prefer the actual punctuation then emote but to each their own.

Good Friday to everyone.

I enjoyed all the discussion yesterday, always good to see so many perspectives in a topic. Perspective. Has yours changed from being at Lit? Do you look at things a little differently? Are you less judgemental about the various "kinky" things that go on? And all of this is in relation to being in RL, not just as it pertains to Lit.

I have learned a lot since being on Lit... I have actually been here a lot longer than my joined date states. As for being judgemental, I try not to judge anyone and that was even before I was on Lit. I am not that person and if I don't know that person or the whole story behind them, then who am I to pass judgement?? I don't expect others to judge me either, but lets be realistic, some will no matter what. Do I care? Nope. I live my life how I want and don't tell others how to live theirs. I try to not take anyone at face value before deciding if I would be friends with them.

I know this seems like a previous topic but I'm generally curious about the impact this site has on people. I can't say I've ever been part of an online community where the impacts have been as significant. Maybe it's because the topic of sex is core to who we are as people, whether we realize it or not.

When it comes to impact I think there are two things at play: first, though we have advanced a long way as a society, topics of a sexual nature are still generally taboo in conversation and second, the anonymity of sites like this one allows people to express their sexuality in a relatively excepting environment. That combination of expression and anonymity can be tremendously liberating. The ability to express your sexuality in the company of other people who are also expressing their sexuality can have an effect very similar to group therapy. It can facilitate deep and lasting changes in the individual. Any way you scratch it that is pretty amazing. As for myself, I am nearing my mid 50s, and I was kinky long before the Internet. I learned the power of sexual honesty and sexual expression in my 20s. I've never looked back.

I've changed my mind about people who cheat on their spouses. Being married for a while, I've certainly known that people who stray usually do so for reasons that are hard for people outside the marriage to know or understand, and that no one really knows what goes on in a marriage except for the two people in it. But, I'm now much more understanding and much less judgemental about the cheating partner.

I see so many unhappy people here, and, quite frankly, so many men whose wives have stopped having sex with them, that I find it perfectly understandable to try to find satisfaction elsewhere - emotional connections or just carnal sexual encounters. Sex is important, and the way many men feel a connection to their partners, and it's just not fair to make them live celibate lives. I've encountered so many passionate men here, with basic desires that remain unmet. I'm more sympathetic to those who have strayed, or have thought about it.

I don't follow anyone closely enough to realize they are contradicting themselves nor do I particularly care. Every person I know carries within them and periodically expresses the contradictions that make us human. If I do notice them then I just wonder about them briefly and then let it go. I'm sure if I interested a person enough and they wanted to wander through my 5000 or so posts they could find places where I contradicted myself. Whether a person is living out their real life on Lit or is engaged in an elaborate fantasy, personally, I only hope that they're finding happiness. I don't plan on lending anyone money, no one is going to get the key to my house, and I nurture and value my loving heart too much to give it easily to a stranger.

agree....:rose::kiss:

yeah, me too. it's a part of the relationship that I don't understand. I was taught to work thru the sex issues because it is very important to the relationship.

First, let me say I always enjoy reading this thread so much, ChainedUp. I love seeing how other people think and hearing their perspectives. Unfortunately, by the time I finish catching up on the day's discussions, things usually start pulling my attention elsewhere and I don't get involved in the conversation myself.

As far as the topic of Lit's impact on my thinking, I have to say I definitely have a better understanding of all sorts of things, from people's sexual orientation, their kinks, unfaithfulness, and even the non-sexual aspects of the stuff that goes on around here. I've learned that love is love, no matter who is giving it to whom and no matter if you think it's moral or not. I could write a book about why men and women are unhappy with their SO's and seek acceptance/love/sex/whatever elsewhere. I've realized that I'm not a weirdo because of the things I enjoy sexually. I've made real friends, honed my flirting skills, and had a ton of fun. Just like in "real life" you have nerds, socially awkward people, the "cool kids" (or so they think), players, and just plain great people. So yeah, Lit's changed the way I think!

Thanks for the kind words and thoughtful post. I need to be reminded that there are people that enjoy without ever posting(which is proper Litiquette, there isn't a single one of us out there that hasn't lurked a thread ourselves). I'm glad you enjoy the thread and feel free to contribute as much or as little as you want.

Happy Hump Day! It's going to be a ling day so I'll keep this short and sweet:

Yesterday I deleted my original topic because I thought it was bad. I debated leaving it but in the end changed it in hopes of better conversation with the new topic.

What's Litiquette-ville's thought on leaving posts as is vs deleting them upon reconsideration?

I often edit my posts to get rid of errors or to add something. A very few times I have edited if I felt I shared too much information about myself.

Hello Litiquette-izans. It's been such a crazy week I haven't been looking at the threads, which means Litiquette faux pas are not spurring topic threads. Instead, you get what's in my head, scary, I know.

What's the proper response to a Litster that contradicts themselves on threads. Not within he same thread but from one thread to another. Do you call them out? Should they be called out? Or do you just ignore and go about your merry way?

Most times I shrug my shoulders and sometimes (married in one thread, unmarried in the next for example) I stop direct interactions with someone. Others have said it: it is normal to change ones opinion about something over time.

Hey afternooners, it's been awhile since I doubled up ;)

I need a ruling on using emoticons as punctuation. If you use one at the end of a sentence can the emoticon serve as punctuation, line this

Or should there always be punctuation like this?

I don't use emoticon often. I use *(text)* quite often though, which is kind of the same.

I always thought I was a pretty open and accepting person, but I have been astounded about the judgements I subconscious harbored.

I think so too. Being able to be open about sex leads to openness on other subjects too it seems.

Happy Saturday, weekend Litiquette-izans. It's going to be an awesome spring day, I plan on enjoying lots of it outside. So what's your version of an awesome Lit day?

Starting it out with a sexy Lit friend always makes my day.

Depends on what I' m in the mood for. I always love being playful in the threads though, and finding a playmate to banter or flirt back and forth with. A bit of that, maybe looking at some of the gif threads, or getting into a fervent pm exchange, and I call it a good day.

Well said. This would also be very close to my definition of a good Lit day.

This would be my definition too.

Seeing that avatar, and several others, always helps. It's always a bonus to think of new words or interesting word twists on the word threads, especially stamp! (Hi, Lally). And when the What's My Line thread comes up and I can give Lovetolisten a racy occupation. Of course, the PM talks are the bread and butter for most. But there are the little, esoteric pleasures, too
