I've known other's who waited until after they finished their breakfast and getting ready for their day to let their sheets air out just as you said.

Those people are organized to get up with enough time to eat breakfast, make a bed, etc.

I'm the kinda gal who wakes up 10 minutes before I need to leave, whip myself together and get it the door.

I'm not a morning person.

I wasn't for years and then I spent years working nights and midnights. Now I like starting my day before daybreak, even if it's just to lounge around drinking coffee a little longer. ;)

Quick hitter today.

Do you make your bed every day?
Why or why not?

Used to, every single morning until I read an article about how unmade beds are healthier. Word is that when you sleep bacteria transfers from your body to the bed and remains there. Once covered in warmth and the suffocation of blankets the bacteria is given an environment worthy of nutritional growth.

In an unmade bed the bacteria is exposed to the elements; more importantly, cool air from around the room. This limits bacterial growth and creates a less savory environment for the microorganisms to multiply.

Yo. Everyday.

Though that may change after reading Corbal's post. Ick.

I'm a bit of a neat freak. *shrug*

Oh, god. Me either. Mornings can just take a hike sideways.

Ya know, I always thought that changing your bed linens in a timely manner, or sooner if you got all sweaty in them or mussed them up with a partner was the whole ideal. 🤔 Leaving the bed unmade to air it out before making it I can understand. But beyond that, I guess it up to the individual in question.

Is that really true? I have trouble believing the change in temperature and humidity from an unmade vs. made bed can be that much to make a difference in whether bacteria can replicate successfully. I mean, I guess if you completely kick the covers onto the floor, I could see that, but mostly the sheets get tussled and maybe folded back a bit. Either way, there's still plenty of room for bacteria that are microns in size to hide and reproduce in quantity. Also, humans are gross. Also did I just reply seriously to a sarcastic response from you?

I promise I didn't make it up. haha. Look it up. There are countless articles regarding the issue. Moisture is trapped in your sheets as well, covering it up doesn't allow proper drying out. Dust mites love your blankets and leaving them uncovered reduces reproduction, as well. It's fascinating that we stress over making a bed when we should leave it unmade.

I make it most days, but not in the morning. I throw the covers back so it can air out while I'm at work, then I make it when I get home.

I grew up making it every morning, but I dated a guy in college who was German/French Basque. Goodbye top sheet! Hello duvet!

To each their own, but, aside from the neat freakery, I do like crawling between crisp sheets. Making the bed does not have quite the *ahhhh* factor as freshly changed sheets, but it's close enough!

I'd be changing linens every day in that case.

I do change my sheets every couple of days but I can't keep up with daily maintenance. I keep three sets of sheets per bed so that I have a little wiggle room to make sure there's always at least one set laundered. I learnt the hard way that it sucks to be doing laundry at midnight because you didn't wash your sheets and your kid threw up in your bed. On the plus side, that was the catalyst she needed to sleep in her own room for good. 💪

I've had to change to all natural everything in bed. Any synthetic fibres tend to cause both me and the hubby to sweat during the night. No matter the temperature. Unfortunately, real cotton and wool are spendy. I just dropped a few hundred bucks to replace a synthetic comforter set were using 💸

OMG. There's a hotel in WA that does what they call the *naked* experience. No top sheet with European duvets.

SOLD

It was divine. When I next move I'll be converting. :cattail:

Mine feel soggy if I make them 🤢

First, eww. Eww, eww, eww.

Second, this^. I do dust mite covers, too. Pillows, cover, comforter. It gets pricey.

Ok, I just learned something new and interesting about the dual European duvets setup and really like that.

And I'm absolutely in the same circumstance regarding synthetic or non-cotton sheets that AGG mentioned. I've even slept on pure silk sheets and while they felt wonderful at first I still perspired more while sleeping under them. The higher the thread count the better even though I cringe when buying new sheets.

I went to Natural Latex about two years ago. Mattress topper and pillows. Combine that with all the discussed above and it makes for a decadently comfortable sleep.

(I try not to think too much about how much my sleep costs.)

So bad.

It's worse during the fourth trimester. I remember sweating like a horse last time 💦

Have you tried hemp bed sheets yet? I haven't but I'm curious.

And yes, your not the first pregnant woman I've heard voice how much more she sweated during her pregnancy. I've gotten up and left rooms where women were discussing all of this stuff sometimes.

I'll save that link for the next time I buy mattress covers and pillows. Thanks. :)

Wait, what? You guys don't use duvets? Or am I misunderstanding? Are we talking top sheet plus blanket instead?

Fourth trimester?

I wondered that too. Sweats like a horse, gestates like a horse? :D

I hate top sheets, but I use them because I hate washing duvets more.

Top sheet, blanket, duvet.

Horses are pregnant nearly an entire year 😳 no thank you.
