I once had a girl that I knew (former co-worker) who called me to tell me she had a dream that we had sex on a surfboard during a tidal wave. She said it was mind blowing!

It must have been a good one because she felt the need to call me. I didn’t even know she had my phone number! The stuff she said I did to her made me kind of jealous of my dream self. 🤨

Did you shoot your shot?

This only makes me more convinced there should be more than a solitary hotwords ass picture floating out there in Litland :D

She felt the need to call you because she wanted to make her dream a reality. ;):D
Please, tell me you didn't just replied to her with just a "Oh, cool!" lol

Ooops!
Just kidding. No, we lived in different states at that point.
We did stay in touch for awhile. I’m pretty sure she had a boyfriend too. Maybe he wasn’t good at making waves. 😉

Speaking of action, how many times have you had a dream and then acted upon it?
If 'acted upon it' means that I somehow contrived a waking-life reenactment of a dream, then zero times. If 'acted upon it' means 'awakened all revved-up and horny so I masturbated while fantasizing about the dream I just had', then I've done that a bunch of times over these many years, most recently last Thursday morning.

It’s been a quiet week around these parts. As they say, it is what it is.

So in a form of a Friday quick hitter what is your current “go-to” saying? Why do you think that is, and where did you pick it up?

Conversely what saying are you so tired of hearing you hope to never encounter it again?

My current work go-to saying is "it is what it is" because there's so many things out of our control and you just have to deal with it.

Something on Lit that I would like to never see again is "absolutely stunning". 😂

One of the reasons why I don't post pics anymore.

Mine is simply a variation on "You get it." It can be "He gets it" or "They get it". It is said quietly and matter-of-factly. You need to know the origin to see why I find it amusing. If you've watched football games on TV during the past month or so, you've probably seen it.

I don't think I have a go-to saying. I do use certain words quite often though... "lovely" "actually" "absolutely" "fuck"

@Lord Pmann used to comment that I use the word "content" a lot - but I think that's because he doesn't think I have a "real job" :ROFLMAO:

The phrase I would most like to see vanish is "it is what it is"...because...well...obviously it is what it is. Also "you do you"... I think it would more effective to just tell the person that they're being an idiot.

Hi everyone,

My "go to" saying or word is Excellent.
I use it often enough when describing an outcome of some event. I also use it as a way to wish someone well....I hope your day is excellent.....I have used it before as something encouraging.....Be excellent to yourself and your people. And I mean it in every sense of the word. It's an intentional philosophy as well as a word. Have I failed to be excellent? Sadly yes. I do strive to meet that ideal and not let my own shortcomings weigh me down for long.

I first latched onto it from watching the movie Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. I know, sounds hokey, but I don't care. It really resonates with me and is very much a part of my speech pattern and writing patterns.

Conversely....I do not really care for the phrase... From the get go.......It is not my speech pattern. I have zero context to speak that way. I get it, it is a dialect. But it is not my dialect. It sounds unfamiliar and strange coming from my vocals or text. I tend to avoid it and cringe when I see newscasters and the like using the phrase. Just a feeling I suppose.

Anyway. That is all.

Be excellent, in all that you do and to yourself, and all your people. 🤩

I don’t really have “go-to” sayings, but my vocabulary will reflect what I’ve recently been reading, watching, or hearing in conversation. Like @MedicalMuse, boutique has recently cropped up in some offline conversations 🤣

The saying that irks me the most is “I could care less.” I hear that much more often than the correct version of the phrase…and it makes me feel a little stabby.

As usual, I’m not sure what my go-to is, but I can not stand . . .

”At the end of the day”
”Problematic”
”You don’t know what you don’t know”
”Actually . . .”
”Literally . . .” (The show Archer has an ongoing joke about Literally and Figuratively that I love)
”RIP”
”Thank you for your service” (unless speaking to a prostitute)
”Thoughts and Prayers”
Basically any trendy term.

ETA: I may have facial expressions as go-tos more than spoken expressions.

Raise eyebrow meaning “I’m intrigued”.
Narrowing of the eyes meaning “WHAT!”
Furrowed brow meaning ”I may have to kill you soon“

Oh. That’s a good one. I always counter it with “well I couldn’t care less” 😂
I love the look of bewilderment.

My current favorites are:
Don’t be a dick bag.
Did you hear the pop? (Of your head removing itself from your ass- for those who wonder)
“What cornbread shenanigans is this?”
And “what did we learn?”

These are in reference to my teenage sons.
Everyone else just get a raised eyebrow.

What about "feeling some kind of way"?

Are we too lazy to figure out what kind of feeling it is anymore? Do we need to review the Color Monster book of emotions?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but unless you're a member of the Four Tops, stop saying "reach out" at work.
Per my last email (copied below and CC'd to your boss), I clearly said you may not reach out and touch coworkers whenever you want. Now you need to reach out to HR. You may also reach out to me with any questions.

“Are you okay?” or
“Need to check yourself?”

When would I say this:

One being ungrateful, says or does something that screams privilege, lacking sympathy/empathy or straight up poking fun of something/someone for their own enjoyment.

Works well for kids, adults and strangers.

The look after asking said question is priceless.
Highly recommend.
