Following on from yesterday’s revelations about my hairless legs, I’m going to continue to cast doubt on my masculinity by displaying my new cycling jersey that arrived today. I’m hoping it gives me some flower power 🌸

Um...We’re going to need to see you in it in order to verify if your masculinity is still in check. 🌸

My ex brother in law is like 6-7. A fucking giant, and has a voice like a 12 year old. It's really, really disturbing. Never peeped his peen, but literally all in the family who weren't married to him are certain he's gay and married for a cover act.

Also has small, clammy hands. :eek:

Interesting. An anatomical anomaly...

I have a suggestion. I think that since Pmann is so good at keeping track of time, he should include in his morning routine sending you a PM informing you of the day of the week. Maybe he could make it a little haiku or verse or something just to make it more entertaining. That’d be nice wouldn’t it? Like your own private public service announcement!

Ooooh or a Pmannian motivational quote? 😍
Just to very clear, TODAY is now Thursday. Yes?

Yeah, but he dirties up even better.

Mud wresting? ;)

That outfit is more bold than my lobster pants. Or my salmon pants collection. But good on you for owning it. And thanks to all those brave enough to post their pics. And fuck all of you who think I watermark my own pics!!! Although, they should be, as they could be stock photos for “handsome man with beautiful guitar”.

This brings me to the topic for today, THURSDAY- confidence vs arrogance. It’s a really hard line to tow. It’s very hard to define, but boy do we know it when we see it.

Confidence is sexy. It’s alluring. It’s probably the most alluring trait for girls.

Arrogance is repugnant. You might as well be wearing a pair of TOMS and mom jeans.

When someone says something filled with confidence, it can make you swoon. When something is said in arrogance, it can make you barf. But the line is blurred at times. It’s not always easy.

What makes one comment confident and another arrogant? Where is that line for you? Examples please.

Not sure I can quantify that, but you're spot on, particularly with the TOMS and mom jeans.

Context is everything, though. I could say "I'm the best around at my profession/ trade/craft" and it would hit differently according to the setting and audience.

Boasting I can fasten my own bra in the back hits one way in a jovial conversation about the stuff women go through to be attractive; quite differently in a crowd of closeted crossdressers whocan't come close.

It's THURSDAY again! Double Thursdays for Trekka this week. What what. Thanks for the P(mann)SA. Can tomorrow's please rhyme?

Confidence = I know what I'm good at, I like that I'm good at it, I know what's best for me, and I try to do it.

Arrogance = I know what you should be good at, I would like it if you were better at it, I know what's best for you, and if you could do it as well as me, you'd be a baller.

Masculine or not? You decide...

See? Confidence.
I'd like to formally retract my arched brow and replace it with a big grin. ;)

good girl. now you’re catching on.

See? Arrogance.
He's rubbing it in that he's better at kindergarten calendar math than me, and implying that I should aspire to be as good as him at such endeavors. Which may or may not happen. Depends on if he's offering glittery stickers as motivation.

Kidding.
Really, I think he just wanted an excuse to say "good girl." *arches my other brow* ;)

Bahahahaha!

But can you unhook it singlehandedly? :cool:

I think confidence is a belief in one's abilities and arrogance is belief in one's bullshit.

Confidence seems more from determination where arrogance derives from cockiness.

Confidence= "I will do what I must"

Arrogance= "I can do anything"

I almost agree with you, except with
Arrogance= "I can do anything"

Belief in yourself and your potential, is not arrogance. If someone else achieved it, why can't I. Why can't I be the first to do, what no one else have achieved, that's how greatness is achieved

To me
Arrogance = I am on higher level, you are beneath me. You could never do, what I accomplished. The feeling of superiority over others, is what I see as arrogant

Confidence is positive, and for the benefit of everyone, and arrogance is only for the benefit of yourself. Nobody gets anything or learns anything from someone’s arrogance. But confidence is inspiring.

What a great answer!

Confidence comes from a inner sense of self-worth and positivity. A confident man knows who he is and why he is so great. Arrogance comes from a lack of self-awareness and a need for validation/affirmation from others. An arrogant man wants to be great, but needs you tell him he is.

It's hard to give examples without throwing people under the bus, but I have encountered men who say nearly the exact same things to me and I find myself reacting differently to both. I'm sure most of it is the personality of the man. It seems like an arrogant statement can be charming (or humorous) if there is actual confidence behind it.

This is only true to an extent. Being aware of one’s limitations is key. Just because someone else can or has done something doesn’t mean I can also do that thing.

I think the distinction is that the arrogant person can’t back up their claims. A confident person can. And a confident person knows their skills and accepts them.

And thanks, guyblue82 for stealing my DK Effect example!!! I do love a graph.

ETA: I think that the confident man or woman isn’t bothered by the reactions or approval of others. Their confidence comes from self worth, not from the praise of others.

Best answer yet.

The graph is relevant, but not universally applicable to the subject, as it is wholly possible for a highly experienced and skilled person; one who has earned the right to confidence, to be an arrogant prick in regard to the affair.

Self assured versus a hungry ego...that's narrowing down the field.
