To answer my own question... I've been guilty of letting someone else's opinion colour mine. And I hate that I've done that. Most times I form my own opinions on people. Sometimes I mistakenly allow others to shape those.

I don't mind advice from a friend. But I would not do well with an ultimatum if it's someone for whom I cared. Or ultimatums in general.

Been to a lot of counselors. They all say “ultimatums don’t work.”

I don’t give them. If I’m so upset that I’m ready to lay down an ultimatum, it’s time for me to look at myself. It means I’m choosing to associate with someone that is doing things I don’t like. I can either accept who they are and move on, express my thoughts to them and move on, or just plain old move on.

I can change.
I can’t change others.

And I don’t respond well to ultimatums myself. I mean if they come from my boss at work I can stomach them (mostly). But in personal relationships? Fuck that noise. Too black and white.

I was sweet and kind to most everyone, a friend to all, and popular enough. I hung out with the popular crowd, but I also befriended people who nobody else seemed to want to be friends with. I always had a steady boyfriend. i ended up marrying the homecoming king. I also had one or two haters along the way, so now that I think about it similar to my Lit experience in ways.

I was probably most like Molly Ringwald in Sixteen Candles except Jake Ryan never showed up in his red Porsche to pick me up

In high school, in my mind, I was Dallas Winston, in reality, I was Johnny Cade.
Today, I think I'm more of a Sodapop Curtis. And my Lit persona is the same.

In high school, I was pretty similar to how I am now. Maybe more outgoing. I find that my least liked group of people are the followers. Not to say everyone is a leader or should be. But I really don't get the need to conform to impress. I was a super good kid. Did well in school. Obviously.

I'd say that I was probably most like Corey Matthews from Boy Meets World.

I was nerdy, with eclectic interests. Sporadically social. (Then, as now, I require a lot of time alone.) Part of a small group of equally nerdy friends, and most definitely not popular! I have a little *won’t tell a deliberate lie* problem. Not the way to win friends and influence people!

Eh. I’d say I’m pretty much the same Endless now. Just a slightly more mature version. And sillier, definitely sillier. At least on the board.

Pop culture reference? Please. I am hopeless at that kind of thing.
