Wait... are you ladies saying you let yourself get to the creepy level of post stalking?

Yeah I got wrapped around the axle for a bit. It happens to the best of us. :)
ETA: like suz said, it was a really icky feeling and I was not proud of it at all.
^^^^Yes, like sexiestofbritches said, it lasted about 1 day and was probably my worst day on Lit. Not proud, but it happened.

Aaaaaand, quit judging Pmann. You said we're in the trust tree.

You have permission to stalk me (please stalk me, ohhhhh yeaaaaa)anytime, I find it sexy coming from you.

Oh yeah, safe zone and all that. Totally. I won’t use any of those against you all.

*scribbles in notepad*

I stalk 4 different ways.

1. My close friends. I'll check their posts occasionally to make sure I haven't missed anything.

2. My crushes. I'll check their posts often because I want to see everything they write.

3. New friends/someone who shows up in my inbox/ people that have said something that interests me and I want to decide whether I write them. I'll check the last few pages of their posts to learn more about them.

4. People I dislike or who my friends dislike. I salty stalk their posts. Sometimes obsessively.

“Salty stalk” made me laugh.

It sounds like you do lots of stalking.

I’m interested on a couple of levels now.

1. Why would anyone post stalk people they don’t like? What are you wanting to get out of that other than annoyance, anger, etc?

2. If you stalked someone and felt icky/creepy is it because of your intentions? Did you feel like you were stalking out of jealousy? Did it make you feel too much like a voyeur? Or did it creep you out to think that if you’re doing this to someone then someone else may be doing it to you?

3. Has anyone not posted in a certain thread because someone else might “stalk” you and see what a perv you are?

4. How is stalking (level 1) different than checking in on specific threads? If I like a thread, I subscribe so I don’t have to scroll through everything else. What would be the difference if I see someone I like (who makes me laugh) posted something and then wanting to see what else they may have posted because I find them entertaining?

Demonstrating how I stalk. Deathly quiet. Peeking in. Smiles. Leaves.

^hot. just sayin.

gonna take a moment to see what i wanna say. because never have i ever stalked *shines halo* and in no way am i full of shit.

i'll be back in a bit.

1. I find that odd, too.
2. My day at level 3 - it was out of jealousy and that felt super icky.
3. No, not because I didn't want someone to see that I'm a perv. But I have avoided threads when I see certain other Litsters that have given me a creepy vibe are actively posting in there at that time.
4. You better keep stalking me in my threads. Call it a subscription - whatevs. Just keep up the good work, handsome. ;)

I’m not a stalker of people I don’t like, but I’ll say it’s probably a “keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer” kind of deal.

I may stalk someone I don't like to try and understand from whence they come, and whether my dislike is justified. A diagnostic thing; not an ongoing thing.

I'm well aware that I may post hither and yon on topics that may not be well digested by every person who may be motivated to post stalk me. I don't let it limit me; I'm here for me.

I'm not a profile checker, either. I don't know why - it just doesn't occur to me. But with this one^^^ I have learned to check because it changes often and is lovely. :)

The intent, and not the frequency, of post stalking is, I think, the clincher. I frequently post-stalk. I thought everyone did? Lol.

Perhaps not though.

I've post stalked you, Pmann! Quite a bit. Because that's often where the best popcorn-worthy action is here. You're welcome.

And I've post stalked to....

1. Figure out wtf people are losing their shit about this time
2. See what the folks I like have been up to
3. Find someone I like who's actively posting so I can tail them around like a puppy dog
4. To torture myself because I'm getting obsessy jelly
5. Answer the age old question of Who Is This Rando That Just PMed Me?
6. Conduct detective work - trying to analyze grammar and diction and tone to ascertain the identities of alts, for example.
7. Find things - like I know there's a thread somewhere that so-and-so posted in but where the hell is it?
8. Learn things, like when someone mentions a thread they found interesting, I might stalk them to find it
9. Keep an eye on you pervy fuckers
10. Keep an eye on myself (wtf did I say last night? oh, yeah.)

And I fully expect to be stalked in return (it's a Lit rite of passage) and I don't think it's creepy. I'm wildly unsurprised when a Litster with 32 posts PMs me about a handful of comments I've made, which shows that they've clearly been stalking me. It happens all the time. *shrug* It's why I try to maintain my anonymity here in the threads to the best of my ability.

I think we all do it in some form or fashion...

It's also a result of the way the site here is built. It's not like there's a news feed or everyone has a timeline like FB. So, if you want to do your Litting as a form of social media, post-stalking is kinda the Lit version of checking out a friend's timeline for news. Except with tits instead of family photos around the Xmas tree.

Am I creepy? :D

I don't repeatedly check profiles, but I religiously do it before interacting with someone I don't know.

I’m very flattered, HW. :rose:

You had one of the stalkeriest posters I’ve ever heard of. What a weirdo.

The one I had that was very bizarre... a girl with whom I’d spoken via PM over about 3 days, messaged me years later when I was with someone else... telling me she had been watching my posts and was happy I had moved on, but she thought we really had something and it made her very upset that we ended. Whaaaaaaaa???? We had almost no connection whatsoever. And by connection, I mean interaction.

Well, hasn't threatened to boil my chickens, so I am sure many people have way worse stories than me.

and lol. How did you even remember a chick you talked to for a few days years ago? Clearly you need to stop going around being all nice, just leading the poor chicks on.

I still saw her around the forums. I didn’t talk to so many people that I couldn’t remember their names. She was seemingly normal.

I can’t help it that I’m so lovable.

If I give them a rope...is it my fault they hang themselves?

I wouldn't call it stalking...not in the sense people think. But if my path crosses with them, it is a flip of a coin somedays how I respond. It is never about me. It is always cause they have caused tears elsewhere.

Haha. So it sounds like you were a madame for your friend. You realize that, right?

That would imply I was somehow getting paid.

I was doing it for free.

(This just keeps reading worse and worse and worse. Eesh.)

Oh! Oh! I need a redo. All these^!!!

(Clearly I did not think my answer through. :p)

Number six was a one-time deal. I just kneeeeew I recognized an ALT. So sure, in fact, that I even Dear Litstered on the subject. I was wrong. Hahaha.

SO WRONG.

Never bothered with that kind of thing again, because while I might be great as a drama detective I sucketh at the intrigue. (Little Bonus: I thought it was a habitué of this thread. :D)

Aww Pmann you still have the shovel I gave you! ;)

And thanks for trying to resurrect this thread. #PositiveWords
