people say it's "windy and cold" quite often, why doesn't anyone remark that it's "warm and still" as that's far more an infrequent of an occurrence?
Thank goodness it's a question that will return us to our deep, philosophical discussions. ;)

Maybe it is because calm winds are more the norm so it isn't worth mention. I like wind, so that makes it more noteworthy to me. And...

Makes note.....abstract topics with a little naughty panty showing don't seem to draw much interest. Back to random counting....

Could it be because there's a tendency to complain about the weather. While it might be obvious that it is "windy and cold", raising it with another person invites a conversation about the effects of each or both or experiences of when it was similarly or more windy or cold etc; whereas if it's "warm and still", it's rather pleasant, and therefore not particularly noteworthy, there's not hook for a conversation.

That said, I have often remarked to friends and strangers when it's been a particularly glorious day. Sometimes it is nice to be reminded that things could be worse. As for the frequency of either state, it depends upon where you live.

I wouldn't complain, Chained, you asked a question with a metaphysical topic and got a little naughty panty showing. If it was cold and you could see the woman from the front...

For the record, when you live as far south as i do, you talk about it being warm and still connnnnstantly. :)

Afternoon edition, now that you've gotten yourselves all worked up.

When you think of a tree, the leaves , the trunk, the limbs come together for us to see it as it really exists.

When we look at a flower, the petals, stem, stamen are the picture that stay with us.

When we look a person, we tend to focus on one thing; a physical trait, a personality trait.......

Why is it we don't spend more time seeing people as a whole rather than their most noticeable feature.

The unpopular opinion is that people aren't as unique as they would like to think, physically speaking. Therefore, people look for a distinguishing trait to separate one person out amongst a crowd.

Making this more exasperating is that some (most?) people like to blend in with a crowd, both personality wise as well as outwardly. People with more flamboyant personalities and physical traits (clothing if not physical features), become less popular with more frequent peer pressure/cliques.

Yeah. I'm wrapping myself around this.

I love my people. They are my everything. My flowers, my stem, my stamen. Yeah.... my everything . You choose me, and I choose you..

Thinking about flowers and trees - aren't we drawn to certain types of those also? Lots of people have favorite flowers (lilacs and daisies are the bomb, yo) and are also drawn to trees. Otherwise why do they have fall foliage tours and the cherry blossom festivals?

The noticeable feature that attracts me to all people is an easy laugh - someone who has a quick wit and is able to laugh easily. For me, that has always been a really good indicator that I'm going to like that person because from that I get a sense of their intelligence, empathy and confidence.

If they are hot af, that's nice too. Like the equivalent of a sexy Japanese maple tree. ;)

Are you more prone to notice something on it's own or by its absence once it's gone?

I'm more likely to notice something on its own. I'm the person who notices that a building was torn down...two years later.

But I'd like to get to the heart of this question. Papa C - are you missing Pmann? Awwww, that's sweet. He'll be back, Papa...it's okay. ;)

I am hyper-vigilant in noticing differences. This means I notice things that are new and if something is missing.

However, to answer the question, I guess I more easily notice things that are missing, opposed to something new. I might not be able to put my finger on what is new, but I usually can easily notice when something new has been added. However it depends on how big or small the new thing is.

For instance, I used to live in Davie, Florida which was primarily orange groves and cattle pastures. Then I moved away for about five years and came back to find strip malls where the cattle pastures were.
It was quite easy and quick to see what was new, based on size, in this instance.

*has decided after much thought, and intense concentration (which is hard for me), that Pmann and Chained are indeed the same person after all*

I do find it funny that people think Papa C and I are the same person. Especially since our similarities seem to end at our love of big boobs. And we probably have similar tasting women. That was supposed to say "similar taste IN women", but I liked that autocorrect better.

I believe that Papa C and I lack commonalities beyond boobs. Granted, that's about as good and unique a bond as any. I mean, it's crazy for two guys to like boobs. It's deeper than the bond between a mother and her sprog. Nevertheless, we are not the same person.

Today is International Women's Day. Since the beginning of time, no matter the race or religion, women have faced an uphill fight for equality. We should honor women today, we should make a fuss. But most importantly we need to start treating women with complete equality. Everyday. They deserve nothing less.
