I can pull back and review things, including myself, from an objective view point. It doesn't come naturally and is obtained by discipline and using specific tools/techniques. Mainly I use an independent/dependent matrix which helps separate that which is real (has an independent existence) and that which is dependent (an interpretation of what is real).

I've got a pretty good view of my biases, though I am sure they creep in here and there, so it's a continual process.

As a side note, learning something like an i/d matrix can really fuck you up and cause you to reassess your world view. It's not for the faint hearted because it will starkly illustrate how much of your functional world view is illusion. But, it can help you be better at things and in the end, after the turmoil, it will let you find the path to happiness.

I try to be rather objective. But, it's not always the easiest thing.

One thing I think that people neglect to see is how some biases aren't bad. They are protective mechanisms. We all have an initial bias. We walk into a store and something seems shady and you get that quick check. That's a good thing. The issue comes when you let these biases change how you see people and how you interact with people.
