Pain. Pain motivates me.

And ovulation, apparently. I'm ready to tackle every male I see today.

Also God!

...I'm multifaceted. :)

Love is a good motivator. Not necessarily romantic love, just a love a passion for something. I pursue music because I love music. I pursue more work because I love financial security. That kind of thing.

Fear of failure too. That's a big motivator to do better.

When I was like 5, my father took me to see a launch at NASA. I vowed at that point I wanted to work at NASA when I was 20. Because, at 5 years old, 20 seems like an eternity away.

My father was always a big motivator for me. Also, greed and power.

Today's topic...

Motivation. Some people have no vision and no motivation. Sometimes it's lack of drive. Sometimes it's just lack of influence or education.

What or who gets you motivated? Is there anyone in your life that has had tremendous influence on the way you live? Maybe your occupation. Maybe the way you dress. Maybe it was an event. They can be simple experiences. Or it could be someone meaningful like a parent or me.

From my experiences I tack most of lack of vision and motivation up to that lack of influence. If you're surrounded by motivated people actively engaged in life, you tend to be the same. If you're surrounded by unmotivated people who hate life, it tends to rub off and you get trapped in the same cycles.

I've definitely been influenced by various individuals and groups over the years. As a quick check-list:

-I went to a catholic high school (Jesuits) and without my knowing it they profoundly influenced the way I think about things - temporal and spiritual. Even though I am a Buddhist, I still think like a Jesuit.

-My time in the army taught me how critical the little things are in daily life. Pay attention to the small things and the big things tend to be taken care of by the time they appear. As the Hakegure tells us: "In great things, act as if they are of no importance at all. In small things, act as if they are of the greatest importance." It echoes Clausewitz's famous quote - "In war, all things are simple - but the simple things are the most difficult".

-My family profoundly influenced my general approach to life which is keep trying and if you get knocked down (and you will) get up and keep trying again. A surprising amount of life's challenges can be defeated by sheer virtue of not giving up.

-I was involved for almost a decade with a woman who profoundly influenced my daily experience of life. She gets all the credit about teaching me about and getting me started on the path of minimalism as a life-style. If you clear the crap out of your life that sucks up the hours with minimal return you're free to focus on the things that matter to you, whatever they are.

I had two absolutely inspirational maths teachers as an early teenager, one male, one female. Their sparking and nurturing of my interest drove my choice to study maths at university, which led to my choice of career, to being headhunted to a job I didn't expect, where I met the man I married, and to a business opportunity which enabled me to have the lifestyle and security I have today.

So in the sense that collectively they launched me on that path, the two of them certainly had a tremendous influence on the life I have now. Mr S and Mrs McP, I thank you both

I read ^that^ as "green and red powder" 😂

Pmann be snortin' some whacky stuff!

I am motivated by lust, greed and power. My life is very much like Dynasty and/or Falcon Crest.

Did you ever work for NASA?

That's like asking if he's ever gotten laid.

Clearly not.

Haha!

Look at you all posting and stuff. ;)

As for the actual topic. I am motivated by passion. I have a passion for the outdoors. I have a passion for boobies. I have a passion for those near and dear to me. I've never really been driven by money or wealth.

I never had anybody that ever motivated me. I've had a few people who have tried to motivate me, but only for their own fixated goals. Nobody cared what I was interested in. Basically, I developed into "the more you try to motivate me, the more antisocial I become," because I don't trust people who try to motivate me for, usually, their own selfish modus operandi.

Money doesn't motivate me.

Basically, the only thing that motivates me, is myself.

This is probably a revelation for someone with my tag.

Not trying to throw my wealth around but I once took my family to NASA. There are pictures of me wearing get a space helmet. I'd post them but they obscure my face. Ya know, making it harder for the ladies to rub one out to.

A AIDS dick, dude... C'mon

Damn. I was going to rub it in your face that I worked there.

Well shit. Thwarted by Mr. Micropenis.

Also, where the fuck is Chainey-boy? He's missing all the fun.

Bringing us engineers coffee at NASA was hardly working there, sweetheart. *smacks your ass*

Dude, you've no idea what these girls will use for masturbation fodder. I'm pretty sure they're all imagining you and me in space suits rubbing our junk together. Pervs.

Friday's topic-

How has being at Lit changed your views? How has being here made you view people, sexuality, the Internet, etc differently?

Bonus question-

Where is Papa Chained? Let's all speculate with our best stories!

It has made me realize that there are probably all sorts of people jerking off in the offices and bathroom stalls at work every day. I really had no idea.

I think Papa C. is off fulfilling a lifelong dream. He's directing his first feature length porn film. And/or getting his dick pierced.

Ohh noo...Not in the bathroom at the office....aren't people worried about a pavlovian effect?....Self pleasure + hearing/smelling what's happenining in the stall next to them?

Lit has certainly changed the way I look at people. I was never one to wonder about the sexual preferences of others. Now I will often look at someone and think, "I bet he/she likes a good spanking," or something similar.

Bonus: I'm guessing Papa C is spending the week at a relative's house, crashing on a fold out sofa in the living room with no privacy, spending all of his energy trying to keep his inner freak in check until he gets home.
