Literotica General Questions and Contest Questions

Welcome to the Ah, first of all.

Incest is a highly viewed Category with more than average votes.

As for advertising on Lit, there is a sticky thread at the top of the AH. That and an entry in your sig line and profile are about it.

As for the year end awards they were discontinued for a couple of years. that is the reason for the gap. The story nominees by category come from the list of top stories for each month. The rest are nominated as you saw in the contest threads.

The special contests are listed in the contest sticky at the top of the AH and there is a phrase you must put in the comment box when you post the story at the start of the contest.

The next contest is Nude day. There is a thread here in the Ah for it. Check for first page, first post for more information.

Will only add to what TxRad posted that you're not going to find it easy to sell incest commercially. Best try with other genres.

On finding out how many have added you to their favorites list, only the top 250 are listed with this stat (and it doesn't lead to the readers who favorited you). https://www.literotica.com/stories/favauthorsv2.php

Just about everything I have at Lit., by the way, is also in the paying marketplace in some version and continues to sell.

That all depends. If you're (general you're, not you) being one of the thick headed people who think amazon is the only show in town, you're right you can sneak it on there, but will get caught sooner or later.

But if you stick to the sites that allow it and build a name for yourself over time just like we do here with our stories there is money to be made on it.

Quit the day job money? No, but nice little additional/slush fund income for sure.

Something worth mentioning is incest sells far better than other 'kinks' on sites that allow it, just like it tops everything traffic wide here, but its still worth writing other things to sell on sites that won't allow it like amazon and apple, kobo etc..

Someone asked recently where they could get their incest books published and distributed and none of you writers of incest provided any.

Not publicly anyway, who knows what may go on behind closed doors?

But sure.

Smashwords

B/N-through SW or on your own

Carnal Pleasures

Lot's Cave(proceed with caution, I have heard some shady things, but have no proof of my own)

Excitia (Selena Kitt's newer site allows content she does not allow on her main one)

There's a new one I was introduced to through someone else and so far I've had a lot of sales with it, but I want to see if I get paid first and how it goes after a fair sample of time before I recommend it to others.

. But I'm kind of in a pigeon hold when it comes to taboo. I can write on pretty much ANY subject, from any perspective. But when it comes to incest, I have only one specific interest (mother/daughter), and that interest has a much smaller audience.

But that can work to your favor because not a lot of people are selling it. I'd do a couple brother/sister and mom/son or dad/daughter to get people's attention and see what else you have.

Thanks for the info and the "welcome", TxRad. I really should get over here more often, everybody is so nice!

sr71plt: I've been thinking about "diversifying" my writing into more general less taboo erotica for a while. I actually have one erotica story up on Amazon, it's sold maybe a couple dozen copies and has a single review (4 stars, not complaining). I need to quit being so lazy about it and start adding work under that pen name to try to build a following!

And thanks for that link. I'm nowhere to be found (lol), but all three of you guys are. Most impressive!

To lovecraft68––or should say #4 (what a badass!)--even if I start building a mainstream portfolio, I'll probably keep adding to my taboo pen name. With such a hungry audience, it's kind of hard not to make a little money with it. Even for a guy who is nowhere near as prolific as you guys.

I've tried to write other incestuous matchings that I know will have a broader appeal, but I just can't pull it off... even for money. I guess it just feels to personal/real to me and I end up too squeamish to pull it off.

Anyway, thanks again for the input you guys!

I'm off to find the advertising "sticky thread at the top of the AH".

Oh. Nobody answered the question about the primary criteria for judging the Contests. The number of votes is immaterial, only the Rating matters. Correct?

Regarding your last question, you have to have a minimum votes (I believe it's 25 for special contests and 50 for the monthlies); otherwise yes, only the final score matters. In incest/taboo, evidently that number of votes takes about 0.5 milliseconds to obtain.
