I struggle with that when my friends come under attack. I may have never met, and my never meet, Kit in person, but I truly see her as a friend as I would any other I have I see in person. When I see someone attack my friends in any way, I'm right there to help take a bullet and fling some back. It's just how I was raised.
Unfortunately, some people aren't happy unless they are making others (or attempting to) unhappy or miserable. Misery loves company (very overused but accurate statement).
